We have a black one bought from Best Buy, I think. It is called APEX I think. Plays authentic DVD, burnt VCD and DVD just fine.

those home theatre in a box setups are not good

there fine and work decent, but trying to stuff all that into a small package is asking for trouble

if one piece breaks there goes the unit

also the quality those things put put is not good, do it right and at least buy the components seperate

i put together a setup with a JVC 500 watt receiver, 8" power sub, 2 bookshelf speakers and surrounds and centre for $350

it blows those home theatre out of the box setups

then u gotta add another $150 for a dvd player...saying that a home theatre in a box is no good is like saying a bookshelf stereo system is no good. when infact they do what they are designed to do rather well

for the price I paid and what the kit contains its a rather impressive setup...and for cryin out loud its for my bedroom (10x10 room) so anything else would take up way too much space. If I was buying for a living room there would be another story but hell from what I have used it for so far its been pretty damn sweet

Oh, BADder SANTA is fuggin hillarious!!!

Same here, cept my room is a lil bigger I think. And I managed to fit in a 47" RPTV lol.

I would've got a stand alone DVD player, I bought a Pioneer dvd player that plays SACDs and DVD-Audio even though I don't own either format discs just to future proof it. Plus it plays all format dvds and vcds, I paid like... 200 for I think.

As for sound, I was on a space constraint so I bought logitech Z680s, I realise that they are computer speakers, but they freakin rock, 5.1 dolby digital and dts decoding, 1 coaxial digital (hooked up to my dvd player), 1 optical (hooked up to my OTA ATSC box), those computer inputs and a headphone style input jack for my MD. They pack a pretty good punch too with 68W or something RMS per channel and like 220 some at the sub. They reviewed as one of the best computer speakers so I bought em.

But whatever makes you happy
