The Eagle Lands in Florida
Looks like Florida has signed Ed Belfour to a year worth $750,000 plus bonuses which could bring it to past 1.5 mill.

4 million???? the leafs bought out his contract for 1.5 million ****** over 2 years, so thats $750 000 per year against the salary cap. Thats the same amount Florida is paying him for one season. So why wouldn't have Florida taken him?

So with that in mind the Leafs couldn't have got Belfour at $1.5 mil, only the $4mil of his original contract. So if the Leafs were to trade him, it would have been at the expensive $4mil salary.
And Florida was going to trade Roberts for a later round draft pick, they weren't expecting much trade value.
Anyways, I heard Belfour will be a back-up to Alex Auld, if so that is an expensive back up.
