Electic or Nitro
#21
Well it seems everyone has talked about the advantages of nitro v. electric so i just have one thing to say. i wouldn't suggest a rally because it may be stronger then a on-road car but ur gonna abuse it more because u can. i had a electric rally i broke just about every part of the car in the 2 months that i had it after which i fixed it up a bit and sold it, if u want to go off-road then buy a truck(TRAXXAS T-maxx or HPI Savage) because they can take a major beating without breaking, if not then just stick to on-road because being limited to driving on-road stops u from doing things like jumping which does alot of damage to a rally car trust me.

I broke my rs4 chassis in half (upper and lower graphite), bent my rustler's chassis three times, and crumpled my T-Maxx's front and rear skidplates all from running into walls.
But everytime I break something, I give the part to my dad and he recreates it in aluminum, so my cars by the end of a season are mostly aluminum lol. I'll attach a pic of my rs4's chassis here.
What do you plan on doing with the r/c though? Mostly on road or offroad jumping? I personally love offroad because theres nothing more fun than skying your r/c, even if you do break stuff, trust me, its worth it.

Sick r/c. you call that an offroad car
Here's a couple pics of one of my r/c's I have still. It's a Team Losi XXCR Kinwald Edition, I payed $450 for this thing rolling chassis years ago, full graphite everything, titanium everythng, aluminum shocks, bearing, etc etc everything the works. I only broke this once when I made a jump with 2 go cart tires and it flipped nose forward and flipped down the street about 10 times and all I broke was the rear shock tower and remember it has a 10 turn triple motor in it and I went full speed.
Here's a few pics, got the body professionally airbrushed

I'm not one for jumping... remember, this will mostly be for display and I would think very light duty use. I want to get the rally cuz even with light duty use, I want it to be tough and durable in case I let it out one day and unleash the beast. Well, this guy is letting his HPI Impreza rally and Futaba controller go for $300USD shipped in the US, so all I'd have to do is pick it over in MI. Isn't that a kickin' price?? and he bought it, but it's new in box!

Well the radio is pretty cheap, not worth much, too bad it's an AM b/c digital radios are much better and don't glitch as much as Am b/c it sucks when your flying down the road at full speed and the radio glitches and turns one direction right into a curb which has happened to me many times.
Is sounds like he's selling the car for what he payed for it and he used it already, not good. He may have broken the engine in the wrong way and you'll have to pay the $$$ after. Plus for $300 U.S plus shipping and all the BS plus you can't even see it or run it, I definitley wouldn't do it b/c it's not worth it. You can probably get a better brand new r/c for cheaper here than that one.
Up to you though, you can get a better deal at the hobby show and it's brand new, plus you can build it from scratch which is much funner than just buying it already built.
I also know a board that sells many r/c's for really cheap, much better deal than the one your looking and it's all GTA sales.
Let me search for it and i'll be back

Crap I found it but the track owners took over the forums so they removed the classified section for the obvious reason, so people can buy **** from them.
I may have a couple other forums stored in my favorites at home so if I have them i'll pm you the URL's b/c im at school now

I'm salling a nitro rs4 racer with novarossi x12. The car it is all up-graded:light weight schassi,2 speed tranny, allumunum support for tranny and autoventilated disc, belt tensioners, two stock servos,o.s. pipe, alluminum treated body shocks, light weight flyweel, handling set and a lot of extra parts.
Price, $380.00
This is off plrc, thats a good deal imo cept it was prolly kid owned, might want to check the engine compression.

oops I thought it was used, my bad.
Still not worth it, like you mention you can get nitros with much more done to it for cheaper than a brand new pos. It's almost like buying a Honda, you can buy one used for $5,000 or you can buy a stock one for 4 and spend 4 thousand on it and still have the same amount of work done to it than the one that was selling for 5.
It's up to you, I would go used, if worse comes to worse you blow the engine up, oh well spend $150 and get a brand new one and use all of the rest of the **** thats done on the chassis including pipe and tank, etc. I got a gas car for really cheap and the engine was gone, I just grabbed a .15 HPI motor, customized it fit the Kyosho chassis and it worked flawlessy, I only payed $120 for the engine.

Speaking of running gas r/c cars.. there was one time just this past summer that we were playing one at night...sure it was past midnight, but one of my friend's neighbors called the cops on us.... even after we put the car away... we only played with it for not even 5 minutes...

OK, I'll hold off on the purchase then till the hobby show, and I'll pick up something then. I'm not too worried about all the "good ****" being bought up Friday and Saturday... not everyone has cash to front, like at DKN on the last day I got koyokugen lug nuts and B&M FPR both for $110 cash. The lugnuts alone sell for that much in some places. I guess I'll take my chances. An RC is not something I need immediately... just something I want cuz it's hella cool, and we all know "he who dies with the most toys wins"

People like me have cash up front
But ya, I guess it's a good idea to go Sunday, not sure when i'll be going though.
But if your deciding to go new, the hobby show is perfect for you otherwise you can check those sites the other dude posted.
Also keep in mind when buying new, it's worth nothing if you try selling it but im not sure if that's your intentions. You just want to have some fun and not worry about selling it and losing money. Just keep in mind, buying these things are like buying GM's
