Most likely you will vote for who you want regardless of what is said here or anywhere. We all seem to have an oppinion with whats going on with the parties, some good, some bad.

Politics is the worst thing to talk about (next to religion) and this is all starting to give me a headache (taking pol sci at school and all im around it too much). Anyways I enjoy reading what most of you post in other topics and would hate for a political discussion to change that, after all, its just an election. Good luck with you choices.

May the best man win.

Btw, this isnt a sympathy thread, its just something I told myself I would do during the last week of campaigning.

Tax Consumption! not income!

See, Harper brags about lowering GST. Reduced tax sounds great, right?

I really don't think so.

If you are trying to save up money, how does this help you? The answer: it really makes no difference. Now, if someone proposed reducing income tax, more of your hard-earned money could be untouched from taxation. This way, you could save more money. Do you think people 50 years ago relied on credit cards and bank loans? They didn't, because they had lower tax on income. A man could provide for his whole family and still have plenty of weekend free time for picnics. Now these old farts are no longer contributing. They don't seem to die, and they are a continual burden on the health-care system.

These are the real issues. People get pre-occupied with issues like same-sex marriage. I can't say I agree with it, but I am not going to base my vote on trivial issues like this.

If one of these idiots running, can propose an income tax cut, I will vote for him. This just seems to be a non-issue. For those of us that actually work for a living, we should be the one's rewarded.

If you vote for Harper, you will see an increase in income tax for those in lower tax brackets.
If you vote for Layton, you will pay more in income tax for social services, for people who collect welfare, and social aid.
If you vote for Martin, you'll still pay just as much tax as you always have, despite a federal surplus of cash (and you know where that ends up).

I think this is how a lot of people feel. We should be able to vote for "none of the above" to demonstrate our dissatisfaction with all of the candidates running.

Do we really have democratic freedom to chose a leader, if all of the leaders running do not reflect our views as Canadians?

None of the leaders are increasing taxes on lower income families. To the contrary all 3 are proposing raising the personal basic exemption (depending on who is how much). Cutting the GST does help for those who are trying to save money. There is always something you have to buy in this consumer society, there is GST on gas, services (even your haircut), coffee, food (except grocery basics like milk and bread), toiletries, ect.

You can say none of the above, spoil your ballot, that way it counts you voted, but doesn't say for who.

If you have such a problem with the current leaders/system, why don't you do something about it (run, get involved some how)....

I guess I stand corrected. I know when to admit I have been misinformed. Thanks for pointing that out. However, I still very much disagree with you. If all you want to do, is put your money in savings and work 24/7 you are going to be a victim of the graduated income tax system. Sure, you might save a few dollars on your groceries. I am more interested on how I will save up for buying a house or car. Unlike GST, income tax increases depending on your earnings.

I'm going to vote today... and its going to be for the conservatives.

In my riding (mississauga-erindale) the conservatives have the best shot at taking the riding over the liberals

it is in fact time for a change, something many canadians are scared of...

I voted conservative last time, and my vote didn't make a difference apparently, so I may not even vote this time. Busy at work... either way I look at it, I'm still gonna be paying hella taxes one way or another, I don't care who spends my money and how. Politics are gay. P.S. Bush is a dumbass. <-- not relevant in this case, just thought I'd mention it LOL

whomever you decide to vote for, please go out and vote today if you haven't already done so. your vote does count (there's more to a vote than just electing a representative) and it is important to vote.

if you don't agree with any party, then by all means spoil your ballot.

mmmmmmmmmph

Voting polls already indicate a conservate majority, so if you want to be able to say...."Stephen Harper, what a jerk, that's not the guy I voted for." Vote Liberal or NDP.

It's funny, I had to work in Yuppie Cultureless Oakville the other day, and all I saw was conservative signs.

I noticed that the Oakville NDP candidate, was Tina Agrell. We were saying all day "Tina Agrell ; no chance in hell!"

I think I already voiced my opinion about which party I am voting for. I really dislike them all. I think I know who I will pick however.
