And always with Fido's monthly airtime packages:

No contract to sign
Per-second billing, which gives you up to 40% more time to talk
10¢ per minute: long-distance rate within Canada and to the U.S.

Promotional:

Fido to Fido - $25 per month

Unlimited local calls, text messages and chatting between Fido subscribers

100 weekday minutes

1,000 evening and weekend minutes

Minute Tracker

Included services
Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, Conference Call, Text Messaging, Instant Messaging, E-Mail Messaging, Information Messaging, Entertainment Messaging, Mobile Internet

The Fido to Fido package includes local calls only and is subject to certain restrictions. Calls made using Voice Messaging, Instant Reply, Call Forwarding and Fax Messaging are not included. The package includes chatting via text messaging only. The package offer ends on November 12, 2003. Taxes, long-distance and roaming charges, 911 service (25¢), system access fee ($6.95), and other applicable charges not included.
No caller ID, and message center, AND it expired on Nov 12/03.

And I just saw this....

The package includes chatting via text messaging only.
Is that for the Fido to Fido thing? I hope not, that would be bull.

telus and Bell have the best coverage, next comes Rogers and then Fido.
Telus roams onto Bells network at no extra charge
and this extends their coverage area.

If you currently have a fido phone and are on a monthly,
telus matches this fido-fido with a telus to telus
same price, you get everything including per second billing

all fees are paid, and you can get a free phone on no contract

PM me for more details

Fido ownz! best reception for now, but like i said ROGERS have 850mhz towers up now! so grab a 850mhz fone and see it for yourself,

but of course none of the plan

how does the fido referal work
hmmm not much travelling... going to Japan this January.. but I plan on getting a phone there

however I heard that their phones run on different frequency's so I can't just buy an unlocked phone there and activate it here with my (soon to be) exisiting Fido plan??

no I asked a customer rep at Wireless Wave and they told me that the fido-fido plan expires at the end of this year... as far as I understand, you get FREE txt msgs between ALL fido customers and FREE talk time with all fido customers

But after reading it again, it looks like there is some restrictions in the contract. Are you sure that it is all free, and at all hours of the day between Fido phones? There must be a catch.

ie....

The Fido to Fido package includes local calls only and is subject to certain restrictions.

What are these restrictions?

hey for canada your right telus/bell has best coverage then rogers fido, but when you talk travelling then you should stay with rogers, they have the best coverage in the world.

Anyways if your buying a phone from hong kong, and you want to stay with rogers get a phone that is 850mhz, if you decide to stay with fido get the 1900 or 800mhz band ones,

I'm going to Japan... and I'm guessing they'll have some crazy *** stuff there.. dunno if it'll be lots cheaper, but far superior than what we have here already.. so as long as I get a 1900 or 800mhz band phone that's unlocked there I can bring it back and use it with my Fido plan?

I don't wanna buy like a thousand $ phone and then come back and it won't work

actually far superior? nope, not at all, everyone there you can buy here,

japan uses cdma x10 (better technology then GSM) their fones that are probably far superior dont even work on the north american network,

so the GSM fones there you can get here....howardforums.com,

from the $1000fone to the $100 fone heh

cheaper? most likely
