The spam messages instructed Fido customers to call a person named Ron.
SO HAS anyone called ron yet?

Here's what I say...

For anyone using Fido not within the city limits, the reception will obviously suck, its a GSM phone and not an analog. If you want coverage outside of the city, you better get yourself either a Telus or Bell. Both have fairly could reception and are dual mode. (Analog and Digital) Which will give you coverage out of the city. I am a Fido user myself and I love my Fido, I think its great for what I use it for and the plan I have is perfect for me. (100 mins anytime time, unlimited evenings and weekends, caller Id, voicemail, billing by SECOND and all the works for $30 bucks plus the usual crap) I stay in the city so the reception is awesome, usually full except when in buidlings with a lot of cement.

As for the comment regarding if Rogers puchasing Fido will be good, it will not. Rogers itself is already a monopoly company and I think they get too much for what they provide. I am Radio Shack Employee who sells Rogers and from personal experience with them, I think they are not at all that great. First off, the phones that Rogers offers are crap. Sure, not every single phone is defective, but a lot are, and they get the garbage versions of every phone. (Ex. Nokia 5125, 3360... get my flow?) Those phones are the lower ends of Nokia, what's up with that? I know for sure that the Motorola T193 and the Nokia 3360 are not as good as they say. They always come back and the reception is horrible, especially on the V.60 for rogers. Telus's V.60 has excellent reception tho. Also, everyone out there automatically assumes that Rogers has the best reception out there, well, thats for you to decide. But I say rogers reception in GSM sucks *** because they have not updated that technology since long time and its horrible, so don't even bother getting a GSM phone in Canada until they update that crap. As for analog coverage, they do have pretty good coverage and they're analog phones I would say are excellent. (I use to have the first motorola flip phone in analog with them) I think that's about enough for now.
If anyone has got any questions regarding Rogers, just post away.

Just my 0.02 cents

Regards,
D-T
