BenQ is dirty cheap now and a good product, as they are really trying to push their DLP projectors out.

You can get a good one from TigerDirect.ca... at their warehouse.. pickup... for like $1600 plus taxes.

XGA res
HDTV compatible
3000 hour bulb
3 year warranty
picture in picture and all the other stupid features
i think it was 1600 lumens which really is more than enough if the room is fairly dark to begin with.

this is a very debateable topic, which is why i decided to post it... My best TV is a flat faced tube... theres so much new tv technology out there and i know very little about it.

Im aiming for picture quality for movies mostly, and true HDTV is a must!

Does anyone know what would be a good place to shop for a big screen TV (42'' and higher) in the GTA other than places like Best Buy, Future Shop, etc. I guess what I'm asking for is places where you can get a deal on TVs. Thanks.

I got a DLP projector that does 1080i.

They're $3000, and I have it as a 98" screen.

I challenge anyone to show me anything that size, that quality, for that price. Mine is a panasonic, but whatever. get one with 3000 hour bulbs that aren't too expensive.

i've only got one video that is full res... it's 7GB DIV'X... DVD only does 480p.. that's garbage compared to what you can get...

my only problem now is i'm super spoiled. i can't watch a movie on a 32" TV across a living room anymore.. they all look like garbage.

I'm used to watching sopranos where a gun is the size of my head... i was at my friend's place where they have a 27"... that was bad...

I bought my tv at center hifi on dundas, between dixie and the 427, I've bought quite a few things from them, they're pretty flexible on price.

You can also try 2001 audio/video they have a few locations in 'sauga, one at heartland and one on dundas, just east of Center Hifi, on the north side beside Blinds to Go.

What kind of TV are looking at getting? LCD, CRT, DLP?

Didn't know about Center HiFi. I will check them out. I did go to 2001 Audio Video at Heartland and they have some good deals this month.

I was looking at getting the Sony KF42WE620 42'' Grand Wega LCD Rear Projection, or their 50'' Grand Wega. As much as I like the 50 inches and bigger TVs I dont think they'll fit in my condo.

There is a place here in Hamilton called East Hamilton Radio. The sell mostly high home theatre type stuff. I got my current 47" Panasonic there and I very happy with it. It is rear projection, but the picture is still excellent. They have a 50" Sony Wega LCD on sale now for under $3000.

Is that Panny CRT rear projection? If so I have the same tv it rocks. I hope you've watched HD content thru it, its amazing. .

I believe I saw the 42" Sony Wega for sale in the newest Brick Flyer for 1999+stand (2200ish I think it was). Seemed like a pretty good deal, maybe you can get it price matched elsewhere.

Oh ya one other place, trutone home theatre on dundas/tomken. They have very nice, higher end home theatre. It was the only store that I visited that had the 70" sony LCD RPTV (it was like 10k bucks last year)

1999 + stand is what 2001 Audio Video was charging too. I just think that the matching Sony stand looks better than what others sell for the same price.

i have both styles of projectors... and honestly if you have a dark room with not light entering from say windows etc... go BIG or go home.. lol

actually the projector we have was made by my brother, using 15 inch lcd screen, 2 or 3 lenses, a lightbulb (not regular) but he has also added alot of other stuff such as automatic overheating turn off, side mounted touch screen hooked upto mini computer also located inside the projector which contants tons of movies and videos...

i think projector is the way to go if you want to entertain

a ceiling mount will mostly fix that problem.
