well my best friends dad runs a computer shop out in mississauga so I might check with him. Also if aaron isnt busy I would really appreciate if he could help me out. Right now the best thing might be to look at getting a computer built custom for cheap cause computer parts seem to be a dime a dozen now.
Gatherer - I put in the HP recovery disk to recover the programs that the computer gave with upon purchase. It said that if i didnt re-format that all my old data should still be there, but its not???

Oh well, what's done is done.
What I would do, is PM 94EG6HB......he was the one that helped me out when my first compter screwed up, when I accidently pulled out my removable drive with the power on.
I was able to get most of the songs and importanat family pics that were on the HD.....which btw, were not printed out yet.
Thanks Aaron.
He might be able to help you out, and he's cheaper than taking it to a repair center.

What exactly is a destructive recovery? There were two options when the recovery cd loaded, 1 was to reformat and recover and the other was just to recover. I just the second option.
I am pretty sure I was running 95 or 98 as the computer is pretty old.
If im fine with using the same screen how much do you think it would be to put together a new computer thats pretty much just for listening to music, browsing the web, typing stuff up and burning cd's fast?

Aaron told me never to put stuff into the Windows folders.....if I did that, all that stuff gets flushed if I reformat. I only use those folders to hold stuff for a short period of time....other than that, I move everything over to my other partitioned drive, under different folders every chance I get.
