Hahaha...don't worry about it man, keep ur head up and get yourself seen and heard. Just go to the clubs and instead of trying to pick up, just go have a good time. I swear, it's like girls can sense a guy having a good time from a mile away, and they'll come flock to you. I do it all the time, dance with tons of girls every night I go out; but ... I don't take any home. It's just not my style.

Well put Martin, but Jeff and I are a little different. For us it is a competition, everything is a competition. He wants to be fast, I want to be faster.

My GF is the same. She doesn't understand why we need to hang out in the parking lot to socialize. She rarely comes to any meets but when she does she gets bored REALLY fast.
She knows that I love my car and whatnot. She always jokes around with me about it and calling my car "Precious" Even when I got my seat put in with the racing harness, she was laffing and saying that she wanted to take a pic of me in it and send it too her friend in Washington with some sarcastic comments (doesn't bother me). I just told her to wait until/if I put in the passenger seat/harness that she'll look as "foolish" as me. Then she got quiet 
All in all she knows I like working on my car but she does get annoyed cuz it takes away time spent with each other.
You just have to compromise with certain things

You know what. Tell you G/F It's like this. 2 Me it's not even about the cars **** I could BUS to the meets and have a Blast. It's the PEOPLE
If you G/F Ever gets together with a Bunch of friends to talk , drink coffee and Chill tell her it's the SAME thing we just do it with NICE cars in an underground parking garage.
Wait a Min that doesn't sound good. AHH well tell her anyways and ask he to come out.
Wait how about we have a Bring your G/F To a TCC meet?? That way all the G/Fs that Don;t like it can be friends.

Yeah, like that's going to work.
They will get together and plan different ways, for them to stop us from going to the meets. It's bad enough that we have to deal with one g/f, that hates the idea that us guy's LIKE to do something on our own time, insted of with them,......let alone a group of "girlfriends" that will back each other up.
They become more dangerous in groups.
I told mine that for a few hours on wed nite (TCC), and fri nite(my other car club), are "me" times........I also reminded her, that I have the rest of the week to spend time with her.
She understood, and we no longer fight over this subject.
The guy's that are having trouble, remember this.......if she's going to be bothered about a couple of hours ONLY ONE NIGHT A WEEK, you have more problems in your relationship than you think.
Trying to talk about the reasons why you like to come out, will sometimes fall on deaf ears. If she hates it from the start, there's nothing much you can do. Once a woman makes up her mind, it's almost impossible for you to change it. You'll end up
if you try.As for the girls that are, and are not memebers, that do come out to the meets and enjoy themselfs, they are cut from a different cloth.

I totally know how all of your girls are! (Cause I used to be like that for a week!) They don't understand why you are wasting more money on your car and not on them or anything that will benefit the relationship, and they don't understand why you have to waste so much time on your car....blah blah blah!
I learned that I needed to respect my b/f and realize that his car meant so much to him, as did I. Then I got my own car...now I can't even imagine how I was ever like that!! I love going to meets, and doing things on my car.
If you are in love with your cars that much (which I'm sure most of you are) You just need to explain to them that you have a hobbie that you love and if they have a problem they know where the door is

My wife gives me a hard time too, not all the time, but every now and then, what she thinks is the stupidest is talking to strangers on the internet about cars all the time. She's actually pretty good, she's not really interested in coming to meets but she does like that I have a hobby (as long as it doesn't totally take over).
She does come by my races (autocross) when they're in town.
She was very good when we started going out, but now that I've married her she says she doesn't have to go anymore. In the first couple of years we went to Darknights (twice), North of The Border Bash (twice) Audio Thunder (three times), Speedorama (twice), IASCA World Finals (twice), and a ton of Truck Shows (Battle Creek MI, London, Collingwood... She's also been to Spring Break Nationals (world's largest car audio show) 3 times now but she really doesn't mind that one too much since it's in Daytona Beach.
She gives me a hard time but she sure doesn't mind riding around in a hot looking, attention getting car.
I'm actually pretty proud of what I've accomplished, when we started going out the was convinced that a car was a car, and that her mom's POS Dodge Shadow was a perfecly acceptable form of transportation. Now she can name most cars (imports anyway) at a glance and is usually pretty vocal about which mods look good and which are ugly. She also drives a sport compact sedan with 16" alloys, whiteface gauges, euro tails and a bumpin' system.

i know my girl would not come to a meet, but then again i hardly do anymore. she know that i love my car, and she finds it amusing that i can talk about car for hours. she is a good girl and i love her. im glad that she understands.

same with my girlfriend. even though she wasnt into all that car stuff when we first started going out, she's come a long way and now she knows quite a lot about cars. she still thinks the meets are a waste of time though...

When I met Michelle she had a turbo Sundance. I thought i had done pretty well by getting her away from Chrysler. Now she comes to all the meets, is a member and holds a vital role int he club. She didn't originally understand the car fascination and now she is just as obsessed as I am.
I haven't decided if this is a good or bad thing yet.
