This is why you have a backpack and place the laptop in a plastic bag. Now for falling, umm don't fall, but if you do make sure your backpack is padded enough. Snow. ? I don't ride a bike in the winter.

Cold temp tips

In the spring, summer, & fall I usually just ride my bike to work. For me it takes 6 min to drive, 8min to bike, & 15min to walk.

Well Falling can still be a problem on a bike.. I wiped out a few weeks ago on a straight road with no bumps.. go figure....

if you can leave the laptop at work and not take it home the better...

I was asked if I wanted a laptop I refused because I wasn't going to take work home with me. I figure I did enough homework in Highschool and college no sense making my life harder for me...

I have a laptop for university (required its a "laptop based school"), so I can't really leave it at school unfortunatly, which kind of sucks. If our school had went PDA based, it would have been a little nicer than hauling a Thinkpad around, lol.

I have a contract with the government this summer, and it should be close to my place, so i'm planning on riding my gary fisher to work

LOL! I was only joking about the camels. This is where most of the oil are exported from, so of course it's dirt cheap.

I do agree with Jason about taking the bike to work, but unfortunately some of us don't have that luxury. I live in Mississauga and work in Toronto so biking to work is out of the question. Trust me, if I could I would bike to work.

for the record ...

When I got the job in Scarborough (I was working in Etobicoke as I stated earlier) I didn't think I could bike to work the main draw was side street driving (no major highways) and closeness of the place employment ment that I was likely to be called in to fix stuff this would give me more over time. I did think it was too far to bike. then I gave it a shot on a warm sunday when I had nothing else to do. amazingly I made it in only 45 minutes so realizing that I've been getting up 1 hour earlier and biking it to work. the work out is great.

google maps gives the distance to work as 13 kms however it takes a slightly different route then I do but generally the same thing. and thats 1 way. I can't believe I bike 26 kms total each day... thats 1/4 of the driving I was doing when I was working in Etobicoke and living in Scarborough...

I'm also down to 40 minutes for the trip one way so 10 minutes longer then rush hour red light traffic I used to sit in. (mainly because I've figured out how to pace myself on a bike so that I never stop I always get a green light)
