go with the spa idea or something that isnt material... girls love that sentimental value stuff... or when you.. or it looks like you took the time to get her something like lingerie or the day spa or dinner thing...
dvd player, mp3 player... all that sh_t she can get herself..
like the girl at La Senza told me; "get her lingerie.. she can buy herself bras and panties.."

I don't know how a trip to the spa is sentimental...she can go buy a day at the spa as easily as we can. Personally, the spa thing would be best for "suprise" gift, like for no reason, just because you like her. the spa thing doesn't include the both of you, so what's the point. It's her birthday, so make her memory of it include you, not some random person rubbing her feet and putting cucumbers over her eyes.

Romantic dinner is a no brainer, if a guy needs to please his woman that way to get sex, or exceptional sex, he is trying too hard. You want sex, just ask.
But, that's not to say that a romantic dinner isn't good, but you need to know how to cook first. Fry rice and your regular ovan baked goods aren't qualified in my book. Althought it is the heart that counts.
Every woman has a little evil dark side, just like a guy. It is the percentage of that little eveil dark side which adds to the level of fun-rating in your relationship.
Take her to sky diving. I don't know how much it costs and I do know the weather is cold so you can always reserve the right to postpone her gift until a warmer date. Extreme and near-death experience often brings out a person's most inner desire. Say, if she is afraid of **** sex, after some crazy activities, she might just give it a try.
