going for my G this wednesday! Any suggestions?

hi everyone,
I will be going for my G license this wednesday. I am very confident in my driving so i think I should do pretty good. I will be driving my dads honda accord (5 speed) because my car may not be suitable for a driving test. i just thought i would get any comments or suggestions so as i wont make some stupid mistake. Or if U have any stories, maybe i could learn from your mistakes....

thanks

mmm well if ur use to stopping a bit over the lines at 4 way stops don't do that.......generally a lot of bad habits, if u've had ur g2 for a while, without taking ur g test, u'll have a lot of bad habits, i jumped right on the chance of getting my G right when i was able to got it at 18.

Oh yah don't forget to check ur mirrors...LOL i got some deduction **** for that...haha cause i rarely check my mirrors, unless i know i'm gonna be makin a lot of lane changes. . . but that what is it? 5-10sec rule?......that'z gay..haha or w/e the rule is

yea.. ^
2 hands on the wheel all times unless you are switching gears...and after you switch...they have to go right back to 10 and 2.

I did my G with my 5spd civic. I talked to my tester the whole time while shifting smoothly and following all the rules. My test ending up being about 15mins with no parallel or anything. I think that the tester looks for confidence behind the wheel.

I had no problems with a 5sp. just make sure to stay in gear at all times. Neutral is NOT your friend. as long as you shift smoothly and don't accelerate to quickly you should be fine.

I also advise what ~ILLEST CIV~ said....I got failed the first time cuz I stopped a little ahead of the white line cuz I was makin a right on a red. Although he said the main reason I failed was that I didn't look down the side streets as I passed them....which I think is BS because I passed without a single flaw the next day.
just show heads up driving and a little confidence and you'll be fine.

thanks everyone, your tips are greatly appreciated, i have been practising driving properly all week, trying to get out of all the bad habits like holding onto the shifter with one hand and the steering wheel in the other. Ive also tried looking in my mirrors evry 5 seconds but thats so stupid, it makes me payu less attention to where i am going, i will do it for the test tho.
thanks again!

oh yeah! the reason I am taking a 5 spd for my test is mainly because i already feel very confident driving standard and also, the tester may feel like my quality of driving is better because i am driving standard. Plus I hate automatics!

I think the reason is so that you are less likely to get stuck in the interesction (can't get it into gear for whatever reason), or stall it or something (if you suck)......

if they see you driving a stick, they dont think you have greater driving abiliyt.. its just more chances for you to screw up on

i suggest taking a lesson with a certified driving instructor.. it doesnt cost much, about 30-40 dollars for an hour, and they will tell you where you fall hshort and what to concentrate on

If you're doing the highway part , which most likely will make sure you stay in the lines when on the on-ramps and off ramps and when you merge onto the highway do not merge right away , accelerate till 100km/h before you come off the merging lane.

Also , someone I know failed his test for this , emergency vehicle was in the opposite lane coming and he didn't pull over to the right lane and stop. Sounds obvious but sometimes people get nervous and forget lol

I just did my G test, makesure you know the emergency stopping procedure, accelerate when you change lanes and when coming off the highway dont brake untill you see the speed sign that tells you the new speed.

Well, when I did my test this is what I was told to watch out 4.

goodluck

Oh another thing to look out for is when your getting off the highway on to the off ramp check your blind spot......even though there's NO LANE, just shoulder...I thought that was dumb but it counts.
