Google Phone Unveiled, Can it Beat the iPhone?
Today, Google, T-Mobile, and HTC came together to introduce the first phone running the Google mobile OS, Android, at a press conference held this morning in New York City. The overall message was one that focused on openness. But will the future of the mobile internet be driven by open platforms? That's what Google is betting on with Android, but more importantly, it's what T-Mobile is hoping will stop the flood of customers leaving their service for AT&T's iPhone.

My favorite quote:
So here I was, all excited about Android. Not because the G1's physical design is specially attractive. In fact, it's a gray design with no soul. Not because of the user interface, which at first glance reminded me of a mash-up between the Nintendo DS and a '90s Windows desktop manager.

the phone is nothing to buzz about...its when the OS is ported to already existing devices and when newer, better looking devices get it...and when good developers get in on it and fill in all the gaps that google left for them to fill...which are tons!!! all they did really was build a framework and a small one at that and hope for developers to build upon that...in essence getting work done for free by third parties...Android is a no frills, nothing really special OS at this point.
