LOL
I laugh because my parents did the same for some time.

Not quite sure why people do it. A good sweep will yield the same results.

sweeping = moving all 4 limbs at any given time...
watering = standing in 1 place

old ppl prolly coose the ladder of the 2 for obvious reasons lol

still funny none the less ..

Here's my idea why people hose down the driveway, other than the relaxation factor--

We have a concrete driveway. Sweeping the pavement gets the limbs and leaves and garbage off...but it doesn't actually CLEAN the driveway. Washing it down TOTALLY does, removes all the grime and kaka that accumulates over the winter. You can even see the silt and grime washing away. It's like a little 'driveway bath'.

Oh ya, and on a really hot day, it's a great excuse to adorn a bikini and get a tan.

In my old neighbourhood, I had an old guy that shoveled his lawn in the winter. Not the middle of winter mind you, but in the spring when it was starting to melt.

lol, I don't do it but if you are about to sweep all the crap off of it, then giving it a quick once over with the hose will keep the dust down.

Great way to waist nice clean fresh water. Just like people who water their lawns in the mid-day in like 27 degree weather...little do they realize that something like 80% of that water evaporates.

Generally speaking, you wash down the driveway like, once or twice in a summer season...probably less of a waste of water than the amount you use washing your car every week...

The average Canadian uses 335 litres of water per day. While the UN estimates 80l/p/d is all that is needed for a quality lifestyle. Driveway watering is just one of many ways we waste water....

don't we clean and use the water again? it's only a waste if we blast it into space or something, no?

we need to start wasting more water i would think if the ice caps are melting
