Question Group Swap?

Not sure if this has been brought up before, but has anyone kicked around the idea of having a group engine swap event or something?

Here's why:
I would like to learn how to work on my own car, unfortunately I don't have the knowledge around cars nor, do my friends. I'm sure theres a few people that would probably be interested in doing this sort of thing. Ya get to learn how to work on a car, with people that know what they're doing, that way the car ends up working(in my case I'd prob blow it up)

Just a thought...

The only reason my car fits in my garage is cause its a CRX.
You have room to move around sideways and thats it.

I didn't mean my car, I just meant in general, like the idea.

OIC...

Who fixes it when you break something??

Some say fixing a bad install is as much work if not more than one experienced install done right..

But we would need a garage..

At least one experienced installer and everyone else...

Most garage insurance companies won't cover that many non employees in the work area..

That's the difficulty of this concept I think...

Well, often when someone works on a car, like in my case, I don't like to have friends around cause then I have to waste time explaining everything to them, and a 2 hour job ends up taking 4 hours, plus I can't have them using my tools and breaking stuff on my car. So this would be a no-no. Others may not mind...but basically, this is why shops have a no-entry policy, not just for insurance purposes (which is true), but also so that their mechanics don't waste time on b/s talk to customers. Cuz per job they have to charge a fixed amount of time (like say 2 hours for a brake job), that's legislated by the gov't or union or whatever, so if they can knock it off in 1 hour, it's more profit for them since they can move onto other cars, and basically charge 16 hours of work in a 8 hour day.

True...

The economics are unavoidable for any trade...

Well - it's funny you ask.

Because coming soon will be the first Toronto Civic Club University class.

I have been working with some of our Affiliates that are experts in their field who will take small sessions of club members through the basics of "Your" Honda. These sessions will be held in the respective shops.

It will be a perfect chance to get all of your questions out without being a burnen to your friends (lol - bbarbulo)

Keep your eyes open... space will definately be limited.
