The Grudge = weak copy of Ju-on
Yeah, the new scary movie The Grudge opening Oct 22. is an EXACT copy of the Japanese series of horror flicks, Ju-on... like the Curse 1 and Curse 2, and Grudge 1 and Grudge 2. It's so weak that north america has to steal movies from other cultures. WEAK! You can d/l those movies with subtitles... cuz I watched them w/o subtitles and had no idea WTF was going on.

yeah I know about the ring ...
there is also a cool jap movie called the eye. that's hella good too
anyways, it's more just to let you know you can see all 4 flicks for free instead of some watered down version for $15 a ticket.

I saw the Ring (jap version) like years b4 the hollywood version.. subtitles or not that was the scariest movie I've EVER seen... I still haven't seen the hollywood one (seen bits and pieces) just cuz it brings back memories from Ringu ... grudge looks good.. I think I'll see the hollywood version first b4 I check the jap one out

Doesn't the grudge take place in Japan though as well?
From the preview I did see some Japanese looking homes.
I've seen a preview of the Juon (sp?) and noticed a few scenes were the same from the Hollywood version.
Isn't it an adaptation though? :s

ya it is an adaptation, there is the original, the fifth in the Ju On series, but the original director of it Takashi Shimizu is also the writer and director of this "Hollywood" version.
i don't think it will be that water down at all, i'm looking forward to it....much rather see an american version anyways

I can't wait for "The Grudge" to come out! From the trailers, it looks pretty good!! If I watch it and I like it, I'll go and check out Ju-On. It's probably something that I can grab at Pacific Mall, right??

Japanese horror movie typically uses music, motion and image to scare the viewers with very, very little special effects. Next to none. Which is the most primitive form of horror movie. Alfrad Hitchcock didn't use any special effects. (by special effect, I mean computer generated)
Which is why, going to a dark haunted house with no make up figures is more scarier than a bunch of people dressed up to yell at you. Because 9 times out of 10, it is your imagination and not knowing what's ahead that scares you.
Having said all that, I have seen the original version and it was creepy. But I am still going to see the USDM version. For 4.25, it is cheap entertainment. Who cares.

I saw the movie over the weekend. Quite shocking and scary. It had some footages that I hadn't seen in Ju-On 2. But I never saw Ju-On 1 so maybe I missed something.
Overall, creepy shyt man... maybe not worth 12.99 but again, for 7 bucks and less, why not eh?
