i heard that the only way you can get it if if you're laid off/fired.
not if you quit

well i'm not really trying to get fired, but it's bound to happen very soon

why not start looking for a new job? always easier to find a job when you have one. its strange like that.

yes you are right, if you quit, you don't qualify, same as if you are fired... so if you are going to be fired, ask your employer if you can be "laid off" ... i think thats how it works... again some correct me if i'm wrong.

laid off only.......no UI if you quit or get fired.

actually you can qualify if you quit with certain reasons (harassment, equality, etc).

Its 57% of what you make up to 57% of $39,000/year. Remember when you go back to work if you make over a certain amount of money you will be require to pay a portion of EI back.

There is also constructive dismisal! It's when you are forced to quit due to actions caused by your employer.

if your fired and the circumstances around it are shady (meaning the employeer had no grounds = screwed you over really, really good) they still tell you too bad until its sorted or mediation is complete. This I know, ****ers.

Only way, absolutely only way is if laid off.

You can get fired and get EI, as long as there was no misconduct on your part.

Meaning you weren't trying to get yourself fired.

when was this, did they change it?

I was fired in March and they said too bad so sad. I was fighting it through mediation with union (alot of good they did, CAW too!) and they wouldn't give a penny. Even though I had paid into it for years, when I needed them, they were nowhere to found, surprise, surprise.

maybe it depends on the circumstance like stated, but they wouldn't even hear my case....at all
