Has anyone written the GMAT??
Anyone here done the GMAT? Results? Are you in an MBA program yet? If so, where?
I'll be writing in the next couple of weeks, currently scoring high 600s, hoping for low to mid 700s by the time I'm done studying... finished the Kaplan course last month.

GMAT is Graduate Management Admissions Test, required for anyone who wishes to apply to an MBA program. Scored from 400-800, 800 being a perfect score. Average score is designed to be 500 (techincally), but is closer to 550 I guess. So an average person writing it would score around a 550 in practice. I'm scoring in about the high 80th, low 90th percentile.... but I'm still kinda scared of doing the actual test. There is so much riding on this one friggin test.

make sure you give yourself about 4 months of serious study if you plan to do well.

naw, it costs quite a bit of money... the course was ~ $1500 and the test is like.... a couple hundred USD I think.
on the test is math problems and data sufficiency questions (hardcore ones) and you only have on average under 2 minutes per question I think. there are two essay questions, and there is a verbal section with sentence correction, critical reasoning, and reading comprehension. no calculators are allowed, just a note pad and a pen.

yeah I took Kaplan, wicked course but somewhat $$$.... but essentially, it's what YOU make of the course. IMO, some ppl in my class totally wasted $1500 cuz they didn't really do anything... and the class is such that you must do your homework in order to gain from the class.

yeah, no good school worth applying to will consider you without experience. unless you score perfect on the GMAT... or pretty damn near perfect.

hon BA in economics... graduated in 2002, worked as customer service/technical writer for a lil bit, then got promoted to service development team leader, then got promoted to quality assurance engineer, then the place closed down cuz Morgan Chase bought the company, then I worked as production supervisor at an automotive parts plant, Tier 2 supplier to Chrysler, Ford, GM, Toyota.... then got laid off.... currently unemployed.
I'm not considering writing the GMAT.... I AM writing the GMAT I've been considering it for 3 years now, I'm done considering.

oh man! good luck bruno. sorry, i'm of no help. i'm sooo glad i didnt have to write the GRE to get into grad skool.
but i know of a couple of ppl who wrote it and got into mba programs. one got into uoft mba with a few yrs of work experience and the other one to mcmaster mba without work experience...straight outta mcgill undergrad. so it's totally doable and u seem like a smart guy so i'm sure you'll do well on the gmat and get in somewhere.
