Has anyone written the GMAT??
#22
i'm gonna be writing it... unless i end up going the LSAT route, but at this point in time it's looking like GMAT is going to be the way it goes...
what did you think of the course???
i guess it depends on how you learn... i have some friends that took the course and said it was a waste of money and they did all the hwk, they learned better just studying on their own, buying a bunch of different GMAT books and working through those...
other people said the courses were great...
i'm not gonna write either until i can fully decide GMAT/LSAT...
and i donno what to do :S
it really sucks... but what can you do i figure one day soon hopefully, i'll know for sure which one i wanna do... or else i'll try to do a 12 month MBA and then go LLB, or maybe go to Mac or another school that does the joint MBA/LLB... now THAT'D be pimp...

u of t has a joint MBA/LLB program. and there was at least one person in my kaplan course who was already a lawyer and was going for an MBA.
my instructor is also in the joint MBA/LLB program, but he plans to be in academia as his career, he doesn't plan to work in the field.
I think doing one or the other is the way to go.... then just getting experience in that field. I didn't wanna go the LLB route cuz I hated the idea of having to look for my own clients.... I wanted to do corporate law...
as for the course... I dunno... I did the Princeton Review book first, then my brother decided to sign me up for classes... I didn't go voluntarily LOL, but I totally found it way better than the books, and it really motivates you. I think my score improved significantly just from doing the classes and required work. but again, you have to be somewhat smart to begin with in order to benefit from it, which I know you have no problem with. also, make sure you are really really in tune with doing basic math (like grade 11 and 12 level math) in your head, or with a paper and pencil.
As for career path... either law or mba will pay about $75K right out of school. And both will depend on experience and how hard you work. So both paths are identical. You can develop both into really broad career opp'n depending on what other courses/licenses you get. Like right after I write this, I plan to start my canadian securities course, which I should have done years ago. And perhaps after I do the MBA, I might do a MA in Economics just for fun (so I can work at the federal gov't). Either way, I'll be geared for either high paying finance jobs, or high level public policy or project management work for the gov't.

I didnt know they offerend Kaplan courses in Windsor, lol...j/k. Good luck with it Bruno, I plan to write next year after graduation. I am currently doing Econ/Poli Sci at U of T. I feel so out of tune with my math skills, so I will do a calculas/ gr.12 review session before doing the Kaplan. I dont want to waste all that time and money and sitting in the Kaplan course trying to remember derivatives, lol. And good choice because Kaplan>Princeton, from what I hear. Those are good scores thus far though, where do you plan to apply afterwards?
For some reason, i thought you had an engineering background.

you won't need derivatives.... exponents, sets, number properties, radicals, fractions, prime numbers, geometry (incl volume and area of cylinders and so on), vector questions (like two trains leave at diff't times at diff't speeds sorta questions).... anyways... it's often no the math that's really hard... it's the conceptual part of the question.
I plan to apply at U of T only.
no, I'm good at engineering, but I have no formal education with it.

Did it last year. Studied about 2 months for it. 6 weeks on english and 2 weeks on math. got like 56% on the english. and 84% on the math.
Felt like i could have just walked in and gotten the same score.
Anyway just try and practice with a lot of previous exams.
