looks good...we'll see how the credit card stacks up by Dec 16th, then I make my order...maybe. I've wanted a set for so long! But he doesn't say if we get the 4300 or the 7000 kit for $850. I want the 7000... Anyone know if our reflectors in the housing will project the correct pattern with this new, altered, wave pattern?

Whats the benefits of HID over OEM? Is it that much brighter?
What do you get with the kit? Is it only the bulb and wiring harness? What does it do? Just allow more power to go to higher wattage bulbs?

Thanks
So with the Hi/Lo HID kit you'd actually have the use of your hi beam and regular low beam? And with just the low beam kit, you just turn on your lights and that's it?
For the H4 kit would there be modifications need to be done to either the housing or the bulb so there isn't the "scatter" effect?
Sorry for all the ?'s but wanna be a little more educated on these things

Yes, the Hi/Lo kit comes with a little reflector that points the light the right way, and it's connected to a little actuator, so when you flick it, the refector moves for a different pattern. At least that's how all the kits I've seen have worked thus far. No modification should be necessary since these are actual Civic/EL kits, so...the shiled that prevents scatter should be there and work well. You should ask the seller just to be sure though. Also, be sure you know the difference between 4300 light and 7000 light. Basically, the higher the number, the "cooler" the colour...and I don't mean cool as in phat, dope, syk, etc. Cooler means it moves in the spectrum towards the more blue/violet colours. The lower numbers indicate a yellowish light...so 4300 is around the colour of sunlight, which you ought to know is somewhat yellowish. 7000 is pretty damn blue...like an Audi A6 headlight blue. But the light it projects is really bright and efficient in lighting.

And for those that are interested, here's a comparison. Car is a BMW 5-series

I like the 5000 and 6000. 4300 isn't worth all that money, and 7000 doesn't even look as though it's legal/DOT/SAE. I wonder if they are legal though. I'd hate to buy it, and then find out I can't use it. By the way, you'd lose your daytime running lights, so you would have to wire up your marker lights to be on when the key is on ACC. That, or put some city lights in. I've always liked amber city lights.

1. You said 7000k is like what an Audio A6 would have, so why wouldn't it be legal?
2. I know that the DRLs will be gone but why would I need to wire up my side markers to be on or have city lights? Can't I have no light on during the day? If worse comes to worse I'll just drive with my lights on during the day

Legality is an issue of modification, so even though the Audi's come with it, they have passed the tests and were certified for street use. But since our Civics didn't come with HIDs in N/A, that means that our cars were not certified for such bright lights. And if you don't have a certificate of SAE/DOT compliance, then you're SOL, since you are gonna get harassed by the cops all the time for having blue lights on your car (cuz WTF do they know about HIDs), and you have no way to prove street worthiness of the lights...so in court, you'd get ***-raped plus your insurance may find out, plus you have to remove them.
As for DRL, any car made for Canada after 1992 or 1993 (?) has to have functional DRLs. So if you have a 6th gen, you will get a ticket for not having DRLs. Also a question of legality and road worthiness in the eyes of Mr. Law. Having your HIDs on all the time will result in a short life for your $650 investment...I think the warranty is...2000, or 20,000 hours I forget. I know...big difference, but you can check the thread. I'd hate to have to find replacement bulbs for the HIDs. (yeah, try Canadian Tire )

No bulb OEM manufacturer makes any versions with more than ~6000K. So either it is 6000K, or the bulb might have been painted. Painting bulbs decreases brightness and in most cases decreases life. So be aware what you are buying.

Here's a link I think everyone interested in learning about HID should read!

I all honesty, shop around! Make your own kits!!! It's not that hard!
