Holy Crap

They must've been giving PULOVR a try to be a pilot

http://n.ethz.ch/student/lamperta/do.../747korean.mpg

Can't believe he actually landed it, and didn't crash!

Wow that was some skillz!
If you look carefuly, you notice its a 4 engine plane, possibly an Airbus 747. Now the pilots who fly these large airplanes are very experienced and skilled.

This one must have been involved in an emergency situation. You can see how well the pilot controlled the plane at the last moment, landing it gracefully and safely.

wow thats was crazy stuff man ... if I was that pilot I'd run up and beat the ATC who said "your clear to land flight blah blah blah"

man if I was the ATC after seeing that I'd run and hide for not checking the cross winds on that run way before giving the all clear....

That was nutz for sure........now imagine how fighter pilots feel while landing on a aircraft carrier....those winds must be crazy, and to compensate for the movement of the aircraft carrier bounceing on the waves etc.....That is true skill........

that was a pretty crazy video though.......

ok, first off boeing makes the 747 not airbus Airbus make the A340's (747 competition)

Second off dont give the pilot so much credit( altho i truly beleive any suscessfull undamaged landing is a safe landing) that pilot screwed up large!

I would like to read the comments on this from the pilot, ATC, ect on the ticket...

Cuz his approch was totaly screwed up, total pilot error there was no reason for a 747 to be in sideslip like that. If you pause the video the wind sock is showing a 10-15kt crosswind.. Let alone the wind is straight down the pipe!so no need for a slip or any sort of crabbing...

check it out. A fully inflated wind sock means 15kts+ if it hangs at 30 degrees or less means 6kts and under. that sock is not fully inflated.

Might I add a 747 can land in a 25 kt, 90degree crosswind without even being affected, due to its mass and inertia. It can fly straight in wihtout even the slightest drift or bump.

So i conclude that the pilot totaly messed up his approch and had to make a last minuit correction to his error (which he did a marvelous job at) But we dont know the whole story... that heavy of iron gets a full GPS landing assist, so maybe the computer screwed up the approch and he made the manual corrections at the last minuit...

Or it could of been an emergency landing in the circuit due to engine failure, and had to drop it in tight. Id like to read up on it

Cool video tho i must say, and yah i bet the aircraft service crew had one mess of ****/ crap and peuk to clean up

hmm i just realized he was landing flying into the sock which means a tail wind. It had to be an emergencey landing, no plane is ever to land with the wind at its back, not enough air over the controll surfaces for proper function

hmm now im really interested to find out more lol

The tail has a Korean airlines symbol, somone correct me if im wrong... there must be a writeup somwhere on the net

crazy landing. Pure luck, must have been one hell of a bad approach for that to happen.

Wow! Thats pretty cool that a 747 can land with all its weight on 4 wheels like that and still manage to stay intact.

I had an opportunity once long ago to sit in a simulator (Pilot was having an exam) and due to a malfunction that the tester threw at the pilot during landing (he blew out the landing gear or something like that) we got to experience a 120degree drift.

Pretty exciting. (wouldnt have been though if it was real )

yeah sometimes plane flights can get scary! I was on a plane when it hit an air pocket and dropped a few hundred feet. Had to do an emergency landing because of some idiots not wearing their belts as you should whenever your seated.
