Went to driving school. Mom always let me drive her old Benz when I got my G1.
Learned the basic concepts of stick from my instuctor, 3 years later I got a 5psd car and it was all gravy. Since it had been so long between the training and actually having a car to use, I guess you could say I learned it on my own.

I had a power wheels 3 wheeler when I was really young. I was driving snowmobiles and 4 wheelers when I was 6, got my own snowmobile when I was 6, I drove boats growing up, go karts, etc etc etc .... took young drivers to lower insurance. I figure since I have been steering and driving things since i was very yound that a car is not much different when you thing about it.

Well, I learned how to drive a few different ways. First time driving, my sister let me drive her 89 toyota tercel. What a piece of crap that car was. That was the only time I drove with my sister. My dad took me out several times as well. I took driving school as well, just to get the discounts on insurance. That's all for driving auto.
I learned how to drive manual by a friend of a friend. I sorta already knew the concept of driving stick. The only problem I had was not controlling the clutch. My first time driving stick, I only stalled the car once. I stallled it in reverse. After that I did ok, even though I was still nervous about the whole thing. I use to work at cdn tire, and I praticed driving stick while working there, even though I only drove cars in 1st or reverse only. When I bought my car last year, I then learned how to drive better. I did stall my car on the way home from the dealership last year. I was on a hill, and my car was rolling back, got nervous, and let go off the clutch too much. I have never stall the car since, and I'm now comfortable driving.
woooo !!!... that was long (time for a breather).....
