It came straight up with 1.1.5. Bought straight from apple in the Macbook/iPod touch for university student deal. Purchase was like last week, that's why I don't get why it has 1.1.5 instead of 2.0.1, I guess for the money grab if I were to choose to want 2.0.1

Oh well.. 65% done the torrent, damn inconsistency in the download though.

The one part that I want 2.0.1 for is because 1.1.5 has the Mail application but it actually isn't functional, mad tease. Mail application will be big enough for me let alone all the other nice additional applications..

And good to hear that yours is still rockin, definitely going to do it now. Thanks.

Mail should work with 1.1.5 (I had a Touch with 1.1.4 and it worked)...now exchange and MobileMe might not work however...at least not for push email...

but ya, you can find the 2.0 firmware around the net...

OK, I guess I'll need to update to 2.0. There haven't been any updates to any of the apps for 1.1.4 so I'm guessing that all the hackers are doing stuff for 2.0 nowadays.

Wouldn't mind seeing some of those.

You got a link for what you used to jailbreak 2.0?

Yeah, I'd like to see how I can jailbreak 2.0 too. I have just upgraded to 2.0 and I would like to know what to do to jailbreak it. There are so many links online, I don't even know which one to trust.

I have used the Pwanage tool to jailbreak it on the Mac, and it was super easy. I do have Cydia on the home screen and I did update it and installed SSH.

How do I get the apps installed now? Thanks!

installing apps there are 2 ways. The easiest is getting the .ipa files like I have shown above and ssh'ing the mobileinstallation framework file to the phone then funny enough iTunes will then sync whatever app you want to the phone

I do have some .ipa files I d/l from the internet, but I am still new to 2.0 and I'm not sure what you mean by SSHing the mobileinstallation framework file to the phone. Do you have an online link to where I can find this? I'll try to find something myself, but in case I won't be able to, I'd appreciate any help you can give me.

I know, but even when I try d/l free ones it asks me for a user name and password. Not sure where to get that b/c I don't have any account with Apple. Is it the iTunes library user name/password?

Username and Password with the iTunes store, skip the billing info portion and just get the free apps. Choose the option to bill everytime you get one that actually has a price to it.
