I understand your question Steve, and I ask the same question (to myself of course) when I see obese people (no offense), is that at what point does a person not care about his/her weight and just let it go? What made that person do so and how does one feel when they are, say, 100lbs over normal, then 200, 300... and so on.
I would be damn worried if I bust over 170lbs. Not to say that skinny is the trend to be in, but being at a decent weight also keeps diseases away from you (most of them anyway).

What a pitiful sight, and awful that this guy didn't realize he was getting morbidly obese.

Hey, this might be the same dude that got married last week...
THE world's heaviest man has tied the knot.
Manuel Uribe, who hasn't left his bed in six years, married his longtime girlfriend Claudia Solis in Monterrey, northern Mexico.
A flatbed truck was brought in to tow his custom-made bed decorated with a canopy, flowers and gold-trimmed bows to the wedding at a Monterrey event hall. Two police patrol cars escorted him ahead of a long line of traffic.
Mr Uribe tipped the scales in 2006 at 560kg, earning him the Guinness World Records' title of world's heaviest man. He has since shed 250kg with the help of his now wife, whom he met four years ago.
Wearing a white silk shirt with a sheet wrapped around his legs, Mr Uribe smiled as Ms Solis, 38, walked down a flight of stairs wearing a strapless ivory dress, a tiara and hot-pink lipstick. He later broke into tears as a notary declared the couple husband and wife in a civil ceremony attended by more than 400 guests.
In June Mr Uribe celebrated his 43rd birthday with a wish to be able to stand on his own two feet to get married. Despite his massive weight loss, he didn't quite make the dream come true.
For the traditional first dance as newlyweds, the couple held hands and swayed to a ballad.
The reception featured a banquet with meat, buttered vegetables and a five-tier wedding cake for dessert. A popular local band played in the background.
The wedding, which was closed to most media, will be featured in an upcoming TV documentary on Mr Uribe.
"I have a wife and will form a new family and live a happy life," Mr Uribe told hordes of reporters earlier as they followed him to the venue through the streets of Monterrey.
