I wouldn't quit cuz of cancer reasons... that's not so bad cuz you get cancer and you die. I just get pissed at always being congested in the winter and coughing up nasty phlem. Gross.... that's the only reason I want to quite. The money is only a side benefit. I've been smoke free since Sun @ around 8 PM lol that included a really long drive home though, so that's an accomplishment. We'll see how long it goes for.

well phlem is a constant annoyance that you live with, cancer you just die. Most ppl don't get why I say that... but they are missing one big benefit of being dead... YOU'RE DEAD. You feel nothing, see nothing, crave nothing.... IT'S GREAT! I mean, I'd honestly rather die than live in suffering. from flames

I haven't checked out PMs yet....

I say that all the time back in HS

As for quitting, it is more of a will power. But it also has to do with who you hang out and how easy you can access a cigarette. If you can smoke anywhere you want, it will increase the chance of smoking. When I worked in Shanghai for a month, I smoked a lot cause you can practically smoke anywhere. Even at work. And cigarettes are WAY cheap...

But one day, I just felt like stopping, out of the blue, just like that. But I am a light smoker, like 4 days a pack (20 cigarette), or even 5 days, and I often skip a day or two if I didn't think about it.

I am about 2 months smoke free. Not thinking about it at all.

dudebudcivic, you are simply not motivated enough to quit. you need to focus on the goal at hand.

I am not ready to quit yet... perhaps you aren't either. Just do the next best thing - cut back to 1/2 of what you are smoking. I used to smoke 2 packs, then 1, now 1/2 pack on a normal day, 5 ciggies on a light day. Smoking a pack now gives me a kickin sore throat now, I don't even know how I could do 2 packs before.

Yeah, as soon as you get that thought in your head you reach for your pocket to see if you got the $8.00 to get a pack. Problem is, reminders are all around you - everywhere you look you see ppl enjoying a butt....but it's getting better now. Honestly, I totally recommend trying on a patch for the first few days - the thoughts are a lot less frequent, and honestly, it's way easier to curb them once you do have a thought. Try getting some Step 2 size patches... maybe split a box with your buddies or someone.

I TOLD U! SEX! juss jokey. hmmm...well, it wuz pretty easy cuz i had the support. my best friend and i went to visit a couple of friends in montreal for labor day weekend a couple of yrs ago. the 4 of us smoked sooo much...it wuz barf. the last day of the visit we juss all decided that we had had enuff of our disgusting habit and that we were all gonna quit. and that wuz that. well, when my friend and i got home we smoked for another month, but then that wuz it. but not really cuz i do smoke occasionally and she started smoking again this yr but is gonna quit soon. it's all bout self-discipline. juss keep telling urself that it's a disgusting habit cuz it is and it makes ppl look UGLY and it makes u age faster not to mention the fact that ur stamina goes WAY down. whenever i smoke, my workouts at the gym are crap and dude, it's not worth the money.

as for killing time...i dunno...i'm a pretty busy person...go go go. juss keep urself busy.
