IDE Computer Cables
Is it possible to make your own?
I remember back in college we made ribbon cables with connectors for a different purpose but for computers is there really a difference?
Are there different types of ribbon cable that are "ATA 133" or whatever?
I'm asking this because I'm still in the process of building a new system and tonight I found out (like in the past) that a cable that hooks up two devices (master/slave) is ALWAYS too short between the two connectors. It would be nice to have at least more than 6" between the two connectors.

I think it is possible, but I'm not sure how your performance will be. Honestly, I think you will end up spending more money on making it yourself, where you could go buy 20ft rounded cable for about 20 bucks or so. Don't quote me on the price. However, you will retain the performance, you know it will work at ATA 133 and also, you get nice looking rounded cable which provides a nice appearance in your case and more air movement.
