idea about the civic
just an idea what might happen for the civic this or maybe next year, this is what i think. rmb how for the last gen of civics, they only introduced the sedan and coupe and the si for the coupe, but not the hatch back at all. then the released the si sedan with the siR hatchback? I think that they will do the same this year with the 2006 euro siR. Since we all know that there will be an si sedan coming out next year and the siR just released. there is a big chance that this will happen... just a thought guys

The SIR hatch is now the 06 Si coupe. The new 06 Euro Civic hatch or SIR hatch will never see the light of day here. Maybe a CRX one day if the rumour mill is true, but I doubt that too. The Si sedan will not be sold in Canada, but we do get the Acura CSX.

Civic is all grown up now. Only thing that made the Civic a great platform for mods was the dbl wishbone and light weight. Both those things are gone now. I would never again spend the kinda money I spent on my 98 on anything after 2000. 7th gen plus, I'd do a drop and rims and that's it. So at this point I don't even care if they do make an SiR or not.
On another note, I think the 8th gen has a lot of visual cues from the 4th gen, at least the sedan does. In terms of overall body shape. I like that.

But I was thinking more along the lines of the 90-93 Accord.
It has the wide thin headlights, chrome accents in the grill, flat close to the ground look, 2 piece rear tail lights with the trunk plate in the middle.

clearly the customers have no interest in a sporty hatch in north america, there was none from 96-00, and the line sold great, the one in 2002-2005 sold poorly...
If I were honda, I wouldn't bother with a sporty hatch, seem to be doing well without one.....
