wifi is 7Mbps. so technically if wifi can reach that speed with the same modem, i am sure there is a way to uncap the 3G speed to 7Mbps now that rogers have 7Mbps over 3G network....i am gonna have to do some research on this.

Well then you would need to have access to the 7mbps apn which the iPhone doesn't use. This apn is linked to the iPhone data plan and is what keeps you from being charged data fees etc. So if you were to use the 7mbps apn on your iPhone rogers could then charge you per use as you don't have the correct plan and device for it.

they charge data as to how much MB of data user is using, they dont charge for the speed. doesnt matter how fast you are getting, what matters is how much you are getting.
if you download a song which is 3MB doesnt matter if it takes 30 secs of 5 mins, rogers will only charge for those 3MB.
but for home use its other way around, they charge by the speed.
i will look into this more and see if it is possible do uncap and if there are any pros of doing it.

Clearly you didn't listen. The apn rogers uses for 7mb 3g service is different than the apn they use for the iPhone data. So, if you were to acquire the 7mb apn and used it on your iPhone you will be charged per use data since the apn doesn't match your plan and device. It's like when people were trying to use the old apn for unlim data on the iPhone they were charge per use fees.

Bah...
internet.com isn't ever that fast downtown.
I'm still using my N95-3 but I'm holding onto an HTC Touch Diamond for a friend and it's supposed to be able to do 7.2.
I won't even bother swapping the sim though, I know that internet.com isn't that fast.
