Angry Its theif season again....

Good news, my car is fine.
Bad news, my mom's car is missing an Aiwa deck purchased from Best Buy. Enough though its not an expensive deck, pretty upsetting to see it stolen. My mother drives some beat up oldsmobile and they have the guts to come to our driveway in the middle of the night to steal it. So sad, I am fairly upset how low some people are willing to go. Deck was worth like 100 bucks and they tried to get into the trunk, but couldn't because its power trunk, but they tried to open it with a screw driver. Now I'm very concerned about leaving my car outside in my own driveway or even anywhere. Well, just wanted to rant and I guess give out a warning, as if anyone doesn't know already. I don't think I should bother claiming insurance on it though, not worth the time and effort...

Theives -> <- Me

how often are your within 30 feet of your car when the alarm goes off?? Alarms are deterrants...and they cause them to waste time disabling it, other than that... might as well leave your car unlocked.

I would have to agree with bbarbulo on this one. I believe there is only so much you can do to protect your car. I am glad my car is fine though. My mother's car is not really worth putting a alarm on, it has one, but does not work anymore. Well, I guess we just have to take a little more precaution and hope for the best.

I'm not to sure if this kind of alarms actually exists, but I saw it on a commerical one time and if it doesn't someone should invent one....

When the thief gets into your car successfully and pursues to start your car, the doors lock automatically and a bar or metallic strip of some sort holds you down into the seat so you can't escape followed threw by sending electric shocks to the thief. Thus, making a counter attack on the attacker.

Is this a good idea or what?!

Hey D,

You still getting that alarm from Jeff? I am trying to set something up with him but only replies to my PM every 3 days or so. That is starting to make me hesitant to go through him. He has a sale sitting on his doorstep and I am waiting....

babs,
jeff may only reply to your pm every 3 days or so cuz he's really busy doing other stuff too, just cuz he doesn't reply to your pm doesn't mean he's ignoring you, it just means he's busy and hasn't logged in in a while......

As for whacky alarms... the police uses the locking one for their bait vehicles to combat car theft. It'd be cool to have one, and have a bottle of NOS that opens into the cabin... everything shuts off, no doors or windows can open... fill the cabin with NOS and he'll pass out (like anasthesia at the dentist), and you find a passed out thief in your car, you call the cops. BUT!!! if he's a smart thief, he'll just bust your glass and crawl out.

I guess so, especially if this is a side thing too. I guess I am just really excited to get it, I am getting impatient.

So your saying that these kinds of alarms acutally do exist then?
Where do they sell it? Maybe only in the states or to the cops?

cops only... cuz you have to really hack up your wiring and disable the interior latch so it won't open after.

Thanks,
Dave

yeah it sure is thief season. Damn theives. They hit up my WHOLE neighbour hood last Sunday night, about 3 cars were hit and they smashed the windows getting in. Im glad the ******* cut themselves trying to get in my brothers car. I saw blood on the rocks and a little trail. Im gonna be setting up a sensor light that is super bright this weekend. But if you were ever to catch thse guys and you'd kick their *** and then they get away some how, a few days later you'll find yourself in your house sleeping and your house on fire! Thats the problem today, revenge is a bitch in a way!

Screw that, wire up 220volts to the underneath of the door handles (where your fingers grab the handle)!! That would give them a good shock!!

I feel your pain!

The only thing i recommend is a really good alarm and lock nuts on your rims and keep your car locked in the garage and lock the garage door.

Although nothing you do is 100% affective.

If someone wants your car or anything in it ...they WILL get it.
