future shop has a pretty good hiring system, they will have you in for an initial interview and then if they like you they will have you back in to fill out a test... not sure what comes first but maybe the test is first... the test is basically about you and your skills and morals... no trick questions, if you pass the test, then you talk about where they are going to place you in the store so get through the test first

good luck by the way

Back when I worked for Future Shop... (I was 16... so 5 years ago)... it went Interview... if you did well, they'd give you the test on spot... then you'd get a call back to come in... where you would meet with the department head (which ever section you want to work in) and if you pass that... they offer the job on spot.

Best advice in the interview is to ask a lot of questions... be complete... and be personable...

Everytime you talk to someone... there's selling involved... either you're selling him... or he's selling you... make sure you're the one that closes.

best way to win a job is to answer the following question of yourself turthfully while lieing... confusing ain't it?

question:

what is one of your biggest weaknesses?

well in this question you could answer "I slak off and spend time viewing the internet and don't really care for work" (which is my case is semi true......)

I could have also answered " I hate negative attention, just drives me nuts and I don't deal with it well..." which is also true and how I would have answered that question. however I was taught this ... NEVER TELL THEM A WEAKNESS! ok so how do you satify the question while telling them a strength. well look at my last possible answer there. I hate negative feedback, because of this I make sure I get the job done right the first time. ok well if I said that I'd still be saying a weakness but hey at least there is a positive spin on it. it's an improvement. Well someone who likes to get a job done right the first time is also a perfectionist. so my response was as such: " My biggest weakness is that I'm a perfectionist. I like to get a job done right the first time. I believe this is a weakness for myself because sometimes I'll spend more time on a project then some of my peers because I like to check and confirm that my work meets my high standards that I set for myself"

I've been asked the weakness question many times .... but only once have I answered it as such. that one time I did I got a great job. after speaking to classmates that had also applied for my position they had answered it with a weakness...

anyways it's a way to give them a weakness if they look for it in the wording, which is the truth, while not directly saying so and putting a good spin on it.

if your interviewer is female... just say "i'm willing to do anything for this job... anything" say it so she knows what your talking about

I worked at Future Shop at xmas in 2002. Just be honest like someone had said in this thread. Leave an impression, don't be timid and if they like you, you will have to do a test on morals. If you get to the test part, and you pass it, you are pretty much in. I believe they will tell you what department they want you for, then you will have to do a two week training on knowing your products you will be selling.
