No its not.

Potentially a thief with an RFID scanner could scan you before he mugs you..

Just to make sure it worth the effort..

Wouldn't it be nice to know how much money anyone has on them at one time..

I just read the story now, and that is pretty scary.
I said cool before cause I just looked at the pics

But yeah, I guess they want to keep track of all of the money that is being used, and all of the money that is being stashed.

When the europeans changed to the Euro, all kinds of money that the government didn't know about was turned in, in exchange for the euro.

Good point about the RFID scanner though 94EG6HB, luckily i'm not American.

Thats why we Canadians don't have to worry about this...our government is more worried about the effects on their imbezzeling, laundering, and fraud

I guess that would rule me out for any mugging situation

it's not real. The US Feds are considering it for the next release of currency because it's hella easy to find counterfeit's that way. And the RFID would not be unique, so it's not 'trackable'.

But no, no-one has put RFID's into money yet.. transitors that would be small enough do not exist yet in mass producable formats. The EU is considering it for 2008 (when most of the EU expansion countries start using the Euro), and currently accepting bids.
