An order was issued to leave the city... those that didn't got screwed..
I realize some people couldn't leave.. but most that suffered choose to wait out the storm at their own risk
yes.. maybe the order to leave the city came late, but it came nontheless....
stupid people

so how did they get "hit so fast there was no warning?"

im not commenting about the disaster that was the relief effort...
im counter the statement that there was no warning.. there was a decent amount of warning, so much so that over 90% of the population of the city decided to heed it.
If the government was ordering you to leave and you don't, you don't have the right to sue them. If a sign says stop and you go and get hit by a car, are you going to sue Ontario for not doing enough to protect you?

true..
but now what if they told you "szuberi, you MUST not cross the road. You must run away from it now, and you don't. not only do you not, but you cross the road and get hit by a car (in no way am i saying I want you to get hit by a car), then what?"
They pretty much gave themselves a disclaimer.

but what if you didn't have the resources to evacuate?
no car? very little $? didn't have a place to go? couldn't just hop on a bus to somewhere? From what I understood, a lot of the people that didn't leave New Orleans because they jsut couldn't.. for whatever reason.
