definitely north face. i've had mine for about 6 years and counting. i have a few other friends who also have north face laptop backpacks and swear by them. i think there's a lifetime warranty, but don't quote me on that. i paid about $120 for mine. i take it along everywhere, even if i'm not bringing along my laptop. it's super sturdy and has those reinforcement straps.

a lotta people at u of t use either targus or that swiss army (military??) brand from price club. i have a sparco one but most often use the one that the school gave me.

I had the shoulder bag when I went there, it was great, light small, well built, durable...
my buddy had the Targus backpack, it was crap, ya it was well built, but it weight a lot with NOTHING in it...
