Laptops + Xray machines

Anyone ever have an issue with brining a laptop aboard a flight? Do they scan it through the xray machine or go over it by hand?

if they do put it through the machine did it affect anyones data? corrupt the hd etc?

there is a warning not to put laptops through the xray, and they will ask you this upon entering the security check if a laptop is in your carry-on bag...

can't say much more than that though.

do xrays destroy laptops? i don't know.

When I was in vegas they checked my laptop through the xray machine, as well as made me turn it on, to show it was working properly. Along with that, there was some other things they did, hah, racial profiling at its finest.

all laptops and electronics go through the xray machine...laptops must be removed from the bag or case they are in and placed on one of them plastic trays and then they go through the machine...xrays dont have any negative effect on harddrives, flash memory etc

if u get through before your laptop does its pretty neat to see it xray'd

my laptop got xray'd a good 10times I'd say when I went to australia and its still perfect

But once they asked me to turn it on...just like you would have with a cell phone. But other times they just scan it out of it's case. No ill effects.

i always thought that xray would destroy the HDD in it, among other sensitive components.
