Leafs future....

Here is what I think they should do:

Drop:

Hoglund
Lumme
Sundin

Put on there roster:

Healy
Ponokorovski
Kim Johnson (amazing player (defencemen))

By the way, that game tonight was Belfours fault. He got 2 penalities which caused 2 goals, then he kept on trying to play the puck and shot it to the other team. All this happened at the beginning, if this didn't happen, they could of had a chance.

Its over, good luck next year (only if sundin, lumme and hoglund are gone)

haha, **** excuses. They lost, its over.

I am a leaf fan, i'd rather them get blown out like that then go into overtime and loose. Then everyone would be wondering the "what if" questions.

The lost to a good team. Thats all I have to say. But I still stand to what I said in post #1 about the player drops.

Belfour was frustrated. Not only due to the fans, but also NO help from his team mates. (i.e.: Mogilny sliding the puck in his own net)

The entire team lacked heart this evening, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway... let's face it, Philadelphia's got the better, deeper team.

Dropping Sundin would be suicide.
They played like ****, looked the same as they did against Jersey a few years ago.

and Cechmanyk isn't necessarily a better goalie... he just had the better defence in front of him.

sundin is terrible in the playoffs.

Did you even hear Sundins name this WHOLE series ?

Roberts is old and has that injury still lurking him. He should retire.

As for the rest of the team, if they drop tucker, I think the team will loose a good man with one of the biggest hearts there is, especially in the playoffs. Green is just really good and is really clutch. Mogilny started playing like the old mogilny like last year (always trying to do it himself), for the past 2 games. Domi is the guy that actually hustles to the puck and tries his hardest. He is getting paid correctly. Hoglund, dont get me started (****). Lumme should get the boot. Berg should get the boot. Housley, cant say much, we will see next year. Reichel and Renberg, maybe another year, or at least a couple months. Leafs better sign Wesley next year, he is a very good defenceman. Kaberle is a *****, doesn't like taking hits, so he shoots the puck away. Belak should play in the playoff's, he always tries. Antropov is good when he played with good players. Nolan was playing hurt, I give him credit for even playing with those ribs. I think that summarizes pretty much the whole team.

I think they should drop sundin. That is my opinion. Get a better captain that produces in the playoffs and in regular season.

You always hear Forsbergs name, Primeau, all them, but not too often do you hear Sundin in the playoff's.

Let me know what you think of this...

If the leafs ever want to have a successful team they have to get rid of Quinn first of all. They need a real captain I hate Sundin he did nothing they need an Yzerman or Sakic captain. Then the 3 players 2 rice 4 u mentioned. Nolan did jack **** in these playoffs what the heck was the point of signing him, obviously for the playoffs and he did jack. Belfour played quite well, except in tonights game but they have to beef up their defense.
Just my $.02

very true I agree with this, never knew Nolan was injured though.
If you read my other reply I just think they need to rid of Quinn and Toronto is too damn old, they need some young players like Ottawa

Yes I agree. Thats why Healy should stay in and ponokorovski. Quinn might either become just the GM or head coach, but there have been rumours of him leaving.

Who wants a coach that is the GM and head coach ? Whoever he picks up, he might think that he HAS to play them.

ya Quinn should stick with his GM post and let someone else take care of the game plan. man, the leafs don't shoot unless they have to, they are a pile of loose sand in defense. if it wasn't Eddie, we'd probably not see the daylight of playoff action..

well, I don't think we necessarily have to ditch Sundin, he did create a lot of crazy offense in the ots, but well, ya, in regulation time.. don't know what the hell he's been...

Mogilny, for the second yr in a row, the last game, there has to be a goal that deals with him... dang dang dang

Ya, Lumme must go, man, he's slow and useless now, we need tougher D, we need super tough d.. that's why raps lost too, no D... dang.. Toronto teams don't really have any defense.....

ya, he had a better defence and tons of LUCK... god, you would never imagine someone like that having luck so constantly in the whole series. I don't think he's that good at all, Eddie is the real deal, stopping shots night in night out

Belfour did take 2 stupid penalties, but can you really blame him considering the rest of his team pretty much didn't show up last night. Much like me and the rest of you, he was frustrated at the lacklustre play of his teammates. IMO, Belfour is the last one to blame for the loss.

Oh well, theres always next year (dammit I'm sick of saying that year after year )

Wow... its funny how when the leafs lose, specifically in the first round, everyone all of a sudden thinks they gotta change the whole team. Now, i admit, a few guys need to go.

Hoglund & Lumme specifically.

I like the idea of playing ponikarovsi, he's young, relatively big, and strong on the puck, he's quick, and he's pretty skilled. Whenever the leafs needed him in the season, he played solid.
I think the best thing about him is his age. Not to many ppl know this but, he's like the youngest player on the leafs (not counting the guys still in the ohl, ie Stajan, Colaiacovo). He's younger than antropov, who is only 23.

The D did stink, but if you watched really carefully, that first goal was due to miscommunication btwn svehla and belfour. That was fluke, not somethin that happens all the time. Lumme an Berg were the weakest link of the chain so to speak. Lumme sucks... he can play good at times, but he's always a defensive liability. Berg played well in game 6, but sucked in game 7. He's big, but hardley uses his size to his advantage. Wesley and McCabe played great, and so did svehla and kaberle. Wut the leafs need is a big d-man, that can clear the net... Belfour was fed up with all the flyers goin straight at him. The leafs couldnt handle that too well, and philly knew it. Look at all theire goals yesterday, they came right by the net. I heard Hatcher is a free agent. Im not sayin they should get him, but they definately need a big strong guy like him.

Someone said Sundin should go , and another said Quinn should go. I'll just say this, Sundin is the MAN! He may not have been an offensive powerhouse in the series, but he played hard, and is a threat everytime he steps on the ice. He's the captain, and one of the best hockey players in the world. Getting rid of him would be the stupidest thing in the world. He's cant be replaced, he genuinely wants to win, and is loyal to Toronto. A lesser person (u should know who im talkin about), woulda bailed on the leafs by now. Philly played and extremly tight game, and played to shut him down. Give em credit for it. Sundin's lone goal was a big one to.. it tied the game and sent us into overtime in gm4... now if we won that game (which could went either wayin ot) we woulda been up 3-1 and wouldnt be having this discussion now.

Quinn is an amazing coach, led team canada to gold, and took a team that couldnt make the playoffs to the confrence finals in his first year... Do i think he should split up his duties? no... i think he can do both jobs, as he has proven, and there no better person to decide what the team needs than the coach..

Sorry for the essay, but some ppl really jsut dont know what theyre talkin about...

Peace
