When I am calling you an *** I am making a specific statement about you personally not a general incorrect comment on a whole race and trust me your ignorance warrants it.

You find it funny, great. Then keep it to yourself. You haven't been around long enough to understand what effect posting this can do. How does your post help non-asians understand us better? It just reenforces the negative thought patterns.

I could care less if you don't find it offensive, the point is I and OTHERS on the board do...so you have to understand the way it will be received by others.

If you want to take these types of jokes seriously and further elaborate on the story and write a whole essay on “Thy shall not joke about Asians” then go ahead. Let me put it this way. When you read jokes about Red Necks, Blacks, Indians, or jokes regarding Nations (ie. American, Canadian, Europeans… etc) do you find them all offensive? Or you just care about Asian jokes and don’t give it a **** about others? Judging by the tone of your voice, you seem to be one-minded on Asian issue the most and haven’t mentioned about race jokes regarding other people. You know how you treat this issue so if you say “Oh yes of course I care about all other people…” then I ain’t gonna call you a ******* liar.

I once posted a joke regarding an American getting his *** whooped by a Canadian. That joke has been posted before and what do people do? They laugh and that’s that. I don’t see no American citizens coming after the poster and beat the **** out of him? Nor do I see white people jumping all over the board and calling it a generic Caucasian race joke? I see jokes regarding how dumb women are and I don’t see half the Earth go on riot and telling their husband, boyfriend, fiancé, father, or son to **** off and go eat **** and die?

Some Canadians make jokes about Newfy, which is really their own people; portraying how stupid and dumb Newfoundlanders are. A classic joke: “How do you confuse a Newfy to tell him **** in a corner? You put him in a round room.” That one has been around for the longest I can remember and yet, whenever I meet Newfoundlanders, I don’t think they are inferior in anyway. You are only measured from your shoulder to the sky, not by the colour of your skin or where you were born. I can separate between a joke from reality and I believe most, if not, all of the members on TCC can do so, too.

Civic Boy is in love with Asian culture, I don't think it is an identity crisis. He certainly knows he is a white person, but somehow, Asian culture interests him the most. I don't see anything wrong with that?

I went to college with alot of people fromt he east coast of Canada, there were alot of people from newfoundland there...

out of all the people at the school I'd say 10% were newfoundlanders...

guess who told the best newfy jokes? yup that same 10%. newfoundlanders have got it right ... be happy have fun live life with a light heart and make fun of yourself every so often ... no one is perfect so you might as well admit your not perfect and allow others and yourself to laugh about it....(best newfy joke teller was a newfoundlander from *****, newfoundland... thats funny in and of itself)

You know, some of the people in here are taking this too seriously. I agree that there a racist people in the world, but I don't think this post was put up to reflect that! This is a board and there are people all with a different sense of humour, we gotta accept that. Some are tastless and some are funny, this one was tastless, oh well. Life goes on! If you don't like it, that's fine. We all have our own opinion, I didn't think it was funny the first time I read it, now being the 14th or so it still isn't funny. But I'm not about to slam the guy who posted it. Why get worked up over something I have no control over?
We have allowed our society to be to quick to point someone racist or ignorant, when most of us our that ourselves. Life goes on, I'll still wake up in the morning and go to work, still call up my friends and hang, did this joke hurt me? NO. If your that sensitive maybe you should log of the net, turn of the light and lock your door, stay in your own little world. The world's not as perfect as you percieve it to be.
