Kumanan...as you correctly pointed out that LTTE hasnt been hostile towards Canada and US up until now but i wont be surprised if Canada's decision to officially label them as Terrorists will result in a backlash and hostility from their side. Its all about appeasing the US..isnt it.
I consider the same cause to be true in case of the muslim community in general. while generally we dont support terrorism, voilence and bloodshed but at the same time...you cant not close an eye and turn your back towards the fact that organisations and groups like AL-Qaida are working towards the same objective...liberation of the middle east (palestine) from the US and the land occupied by the zionists.
With the recent war in lebanon....the objective becomes more firm than ever.

i can see the reason why they fight, and it is a noble reason, i do belive that, but what i dont agree with is the innocent victims that all become part of this feud between the tigers and the army.
i am in no way saying what the army does is right, and i think they are just as bad, but honestly, i realize that there will be collateral damage on both sides of the front, and they both use violence but both sides are going about this the wrong way, and one innocent victim on either side is too much

its kinda funny to see they have a website with a display of how many weapons and armory they have. they should go nuke if they wanna have a quick solution to all their problems..lol
cuz as long as the US continues to bully nations around, the best deterrent is to have nuclear weapons...or if not...then a strategic and comprehensive build up of a weapons arsenal that will deter anyone to attack them.

i wouldnt doubt if they have a nuke.
if anything they will use it as a last resort.
worst case scenerio if a super power comes into SriLanka and takes sides with the army and they know they are going to loose.

^^ and you know there is no other super power than US kiciking around everybody...link the LTTE with some terrorism ties in North America or western europe...or worst case...somewhere in the middle east....and they will have all the reason to come and invade or attack together with the Sri Lankan Govt.
By the way Jay...have u been to Colombo? I stayed at the Holiday Inn right on the beach...and from the way professionals/bankers carry themselves around...the crowd at a couple of work parties and stuff...i was all impressed. Damn...lots of new cars also...but that was like five years ago.
