livestrong bracelet poll question

okay so heres the thing.

as you all know, the livestrong bracelet was hyped up by oprah.

well i have one that is from the heart and stroke foundation thats says "courage hope life joy"

and my girlfriend doesnt like this one.

do you guys think that if this one was hyped up on oprah and livestrong wasnt, she would like this better?

YES or NO?

(this poll is only to prove a point that she is one of the typical stupid girls that follow oprah blindly like an idiot)

I really have no idea what your talking about, I don't watch oprah

I have no problem donating money to charities, but I feel no need to show that by wearing a wrist band...

i bought a livestrong bracelet because the charity is involved with cancer research, My mother and her sister are cancer survivors so I am a huge supporter to any charity or event that supports cancer research.

but on the oprah thing...yes women follow her blindly...if oprah told everyone to drive kia rio's, kia would become North America's #1 automaker.

i wear a rubber band, it represents the struggle man...and on another note you can get custom ones made up too with whatever you want embossed on it

I hope you don't mind me saying this but that rubber band was purchased for a purpose, for a good deed. If she wants the "yellow band hype" to be in the trend, I think she is missing the big picture.

I smell failure.

IMO i dont think donating money to any of these cancer charities will help get a cure, the world will get overpopulated like crazy if cancer and aids were cured......puts flamesuit on

if and when i choose to give to charities, i prefer to give to ones that don't have a massive operating overhead for manufacturing, distribution, and promotion of products. i think that is a really back-asswards way of doing it and only encourages skimming. just my two cents.. i know that's not really what the point of the thread was

man i ****ing hate these braclettes
a very good idea to promote awareness and raise money but it has just turned into a trend.
stores like booster juice and H&M sell these braclettes with 0% of the procceeds goign to any charities.
I know a gr 8 student, one of my guitar students, who has three different colored braclettes that are from the doller store and have hold zero signifigance.

agreed.

90% of the people who have these bracelets (even the livestrong ones) don't even know what these were meant for. Its a trend like kwasley said, and people just buy them becaue they want to be like everyone else.

btw, I don't think Oprah had everything to do with this bracelet. I'm pretty sure Lance Armstrong had something to do with it.

the bracelets are good and all, but its not for charity or whatever at all anymore

people just see their god oprah bigging it up, so they want em
and then everyone else gets them just because its a fad

I agree with all of you that its just the latest trend, and yes, its gone way too far.....however I will be wearing my livestrong bracelet long after the trend is over/or until it breaks off... because i support the efforts of finding a cure for cancer.
when you know people personally who've died from cancer, or seen what cancer survivors go through, I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for them, and if wearing this yellow bracelet is the least i can do to show them I care about helping them, then i will.

i'll be wearing my livestrong bracelet after the trend is over, i had one before the trend started also, the other bracelets are rip offs, i mean not in a bad way charity is charity right? but the livestrong was a unique way to promote/raise funds for his charity, now everyone is trying to ride on that wave, the only one i'd ever wear is the live strong because of the significance, the others are just fashion, and if you wanna wear them for fashion then go a head... just don't buy the rip off LIVE HARD ones lol or **** like that, that's just cold, you wanna look like u support charities but you don't in reality...

i donno if oprah has anything to do with it, i just think the rest of them are ugly... and they need to find their own creative ideas...
