Living in the arctic
would you guys ever consider getting a place in the arctic?
[where u'd have to spend atleast 3 months at a time]
why or why not?
i'm think it might be pretty safe still, so long as theres high speed internet, the house is loaded with beer 'n food, 'n theres a big screen plasma tv - and of course a significant other..

i will never live somewhere where it goes below 25 degrees again in my life after i finish my degree.
i hate snow, i hate cold, and i hate being in the middle of no where.

I'd try it but there is no way to grow a good food supply that far north. most of the food way up there has to be trucked in. Now yes I know Inuit survived up there for Centuries, byut at that time the food and game was still vast enough that they could hunt for the majority of their food supply. alot of the regulations against whale killing and quotas and the fact that th south wants Delicacies from up there have limited their ability to take from the land.
be prepared to eat alot of meat. they depend on the animals for food. Vegetables and such don't grow well due to the short season.
as for me going up there.. I think it would be an interesting challenge. but it's not for me. I'm more interested in homesteading in southern Ontario where I can still have a reasonable growing season
