I got a retail job @ shoppers drug mart when I was 15, so the having to be 16 thing aint true. I had school from 8am - 3pm and worked from 4-10pm on tuesdays and fridays. I also worked 8-4 on Saturdays. They start you out at $7.49 (may be changed now because of the liberals) which is a good starting wage for a 15 year old. It didn't interfere with my school because it was only 3 days a week, and it is a decent job because there are lots of young people and lots of hot girls come in to buy cosmetics

It's good to get a job while you're young so you learn what it's like to work, and learn how to budget your money. Also teaches you responsibility and gives you job experience.

Moral of the story: Working retail is a good job for teens

Both parts are very true, I've learned to save my money now that I have no job lol. When I worked at Wendys I splurged on everything, bought prolly like a grand of video game stuff, 3-4g's on electronics and crap. Looking back on it now, I prolly wouldve saved more of that money lol. But when you're young theres not a lot to save for. Cept maybe a car hehe.

LMAO retail job ....ouch ...

personally I'll never work a retail job again I did it once for dominion and hated it ...

anyways your 15 you want a job... hows about getting a job where you don't even need to hand out one resume.

here's what I was doing when I was 11...

in the early spring (read March here) I created a flyer saying I did odd jobs like grass cutting and general lawn care.. looked very professional (since my Dad taught graphic arts for 30 years I sort of knew what I was doing) then each day after school I'd hit another street in my nieghbourhood handing out these flyers... one street a night.... after 2 weeks I hand a few people ask about the service and had a few jobs... by the end of the summer I was raking in 80 a week.... nice money for an 11 year old...

ok so that one summer I did that the next summer I didn't get flyers made I just kept the same clients... (my prices were right) and I did this till I was 14 and became lazy.... only from one flyer drop when I was 11 ... I got a call 2 years ago too... someone looking for my grass cutting services .... from the flyer...

remember when I was 11 it was big time resession... ohhh well.. I learned a ton about business by being in it for myself ... so get your dad's lawnmower and put it to work you'll learn invaluable business skills from it

If you don't mind the kitchen, and like to cook, try the restaurant business and apply to work as a line cook/prep guy at a Kelsey's or Montana's or any other chain restaurant.

just a suggestion

Loblaws sucks ***. They make you push buggies. I use to work for longos where i was abused. lol. Now i go not job and want one since i got all these plans for the car. But yet am waiting for rugby season to end. Always good to have a summer job. Get soem mods goign up for the car in the summer. You can also chip Ps2, but not xbox, it messed it up. And once you chip a system it loses the warranty, but i do get all the games for ps2. lol. Even tho i dont have the console.

Of cource lobaws is better than nothing for sure. I say it is an excellent starter job to get into the world of work. But once you worked in a grocery store, you dont want to ever go back to that kind of **** again. But good to experience and understand stuff. But eventually enough is enough.
