anyway...dont think im getting personal but i strongly disagree that canada should keep its butt out...the community pays their taxes here so the foreign policy should be directed appropriately.

Muslims are still not the majority in Canada . believe me, I am not sympathetic to the Israeli cause, but Szuberi, if you felt like your cohesive group was so aggrieved, why don't you quit your job and go fight the war yourself?

"obviously u dont cuz all u care is your beer and your babe...."

like WTF, does this mean?

maybe you need to drink a beer or enjoy a woman once and a while

Anyway,

The problem here is (according to Ejak), is that the zionist cause (pro-Israeli state) is too often equated with antismeitism.

Here is the logic: You (or anyone else) may criticize Israel's action but when you criticize the existence of the Israeli state, you are deemed an antisemite. Historians are allowed to debate the legitimacy of historical wars to determine the nature of them, but if you for one minute suggest that Israel is not legitimate, you are branded an antisemite. Why?

I, for one, do not have hatred against any group, especially the Jewish, so why am I branded "antisemetic" if I am critical of the existence of Israel.

To create Israel in 1949:

-450, 000 Palestinians were forced to leave their homes
-refugees were sent to camps in Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan
-those who resisted were killed

This to me seems like a contradiction. Here we se a group who claims to be the victim of ethnic cleansing in world war 2.

So why then did the Jews commit ethnic-cleansing to establish their own state?

It's hypocrecy!

The subsequent wars of 67 and 82 were the continued efforts of land occupation and ethnic cleansing.

The thing that bothers me the most is, just yesterday, while Stephen Harper was in Paris, he condemned the Hezbollah, clearly supporting the Israeli position. I want to smack him in the head or whoever has their hand up his *** playing him like a puppet.

Israel has one of the world's largest war arsenals in the world (mostly US munitions). They are not defending themselves from Hezbollah or Hamas or anyone else. ISRAEL IS THE AGGRESSOR! Israel is commiting war crimes. Israel is attacking civilian targets.

The middle east is continually humiliated.

(for the record I am not middle eastern, if you think this is where I am coming from, some people think I am. I just don't want to be a victim of a reductionist view.)

but let me ask you something, if u actually read the Bible, you will see Clearly that God mentions there will never be PEACE! and that all nations around Israel hate them and will try to destroy them, for example when EGYPT and JORDAN, wanted to destroy israel... Just look up JOSHUA in the Bible...

the Bible states everything that is happeneing...a book that unfolds the truth.. and to this day the Scriptures in the bible describes the occurence of whats going now...

" off topic " it also mentions of unheard of diseases... for example,, who heard of SARS untill 5 years ago?? or west nile?? etc.. you knwo what im saying...

Personally I think Canada's Response to getting the Canadians out has been terrible. THey should be using Helicopters to fly people out liek the Americans are.

as for peacekeepers, I don't think Canada should become involved there.

if the Arabs want the Land back let them pry it from the hands of Isreal, after all that is the only way to properly claim something.

unfortunately....our media (CBC and whatever else) has slighted the issue by over-emphasizing the rescue of Canadians...yah it's a pretty important issue, but it shouldn't take precedence over...

ah...

let me see...

Israel's war tactics and its muder of innocent civilians.

oh, and good post Ejak! I think you really hit the nail on the head, with the hammer!

I am Jewish, but I am appaled at what Israel is doing. Unfortunately it is the comments like the one I have quoted above that give us all a bad wrap.

I think it is important to mention here that not all Jews are pro-zionist (for the state of Israel).

I see Israel for what it is. It is the occupation of another's land.

For views like mine, I am often criticized as being a "self-hating jew", which I find offensive. To be critical of zionism, does not make me any less Jewish.

Hezbollah is not a group I favour but I don't view it as a ********* group. The idea is ridiculous.

True say Jason but if that happens...i dont think these guys should be labelled as terrorists as they will only try to get back something which belongs to them.

pavement_33, I feel you. I spit on Christianity, and people tell me I'm not part of my ethnic background. Ethnicity has nothing to do with choice or beliefs.

----------

Chigga1, the bible also says that the earth is 10'000 years old. The bible has more mistakes then seemingly correct predictions of things that will happen at some point, one day, somewhere.

From Lou Dobbs of CNN today:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/07/18/dobbs.july19/index.html

NEW YORK (CNN) -- We Americans like to think we're a pretty smart people, even when evidence to the contrary is overwhelming. And nowhere is that evidence more overwhelming than in the Middle East. History in the Middle East is everything, and we Americans seem to learn nothing from it.

President Harry Truman took about 20 minutes to recognize the state of Israel when it declared independence in 1948. Since then, more than 58 years of war, terrorism and blood-letting have led to the events of the past week.

Check the link for the rest of the commentary......

if you've noticed I haven't labelled anyone anything. (for the record)

I see this as a regional war. So I don't care who started it, Lebanon and Isreal have been at a start of war for over 30 years now. so the conflict has heated up.. it's still regional... I ain't taking any sides in this..

but I will take the time to bash the Government of Canada (Which I have a right to do as a Citizen of Canada) for their Failure to get Canadians out. we have 40,000 there we have to do something better.

As for having the extraction of Canadians overshadowing the conflict. I most certianty want to see news about what our government is doing to secure the safety of it's citizens aboard, Canada has had real issues int he past in extracting it's Citizens. I don't care who shoot at who first in a regional conflict on the other side of the planet. I do care what our government is going to do keep it's citizens safe, esspecially after a Canadian Family was Killed.

I don't care if the Arabs are send rockets that kill isreal kids or if the Isrealis are shelling Lebanonn Suburbs. I don't care if Sryia and Eygpt and Sudia Arbia want to get in on it too. to me it doesn't matter. Sure I'd like Peace but in WW2 and WW1 peace was only possible after many many millions were dead. Now I'm not saying that either side should commit Genocide because that would be wrong.... but if they want to fight over where they draw the line for the border, let them.. man has been fight over lines int he sand since we found out we can draw lines in the sand with sticks.. (probably before discovering fire)

Thats just my thoughts on the regional conflict... only way I'm going to care more is if Canada Sends troops over then I'll be all over the Anti Troop sending protests... I'll care more if the conflict goes Nuclear, because that would create much Damage to the environment around the wrodl. otherwise let them have their guns and rockets .. I'm too far away to give a crap

Israel is out to destroy Lebanon and it's people....plain and simple

they are bombing many targets that do not have relation to Hezballah....such as power plants and such....ppl have no electricity, no running water, the roads are damaged

85% of Lebanon has been affected by this bombing....buildings demolished...300+ ppl dead....and no one in the international community is even saying a word? That is the most shocking....

This speaks volumes in the amount of influence Jews have in the world....ppl are scared to speak out against Israel and it's ********* government...

Or maybe this Lebanese campaign is a distraction from the Palestinian situation? We are not hearing as much about the Gaza invasion and killing of civilians in Palestine much since this Leb campaign took effect.....

Israel is a ********* state and anyone that opposes this should look around the world and see what is happening....destroying a country and killing innocent civilians to rescue 2 ****ing soldiers is absurd....absolutely unjustified....

That is the key phrase....you don't care b/c you are too far away to give a crap AND you have never experienced war...hence you have no sympathy for those that are caught in a war....

Ignorance again....you don't care about ppl's lives b/c it does not directly affect you....

Did you ever think these ppl (both sides) have families and kids that will now be orphans or even die? Did you think of the people that have no food or work b/c their farm land was destroyed or their company shut down b/c it was bombed?

The problem with you Jason is that you don't seem to be culture oriented.....That's fine b/c that is what u chose

however you cannot say you don't care b/c they dont affect u....after all these are human beings and you should care b/c we all live in one world...one people

For instance....when the bombings in Mumbia(Bombay) happened not too long ago...I was upset to see so many innocent ppl die due to the extreme ideology of a ********* group....however on the other part you have to understand their actions were a response to other factors....and so on and so forth....

nevertheless....events around the world, especially that of a war btw a superpower (Israel) and other countries such as Leb and the Palestinian ppl who don't have anything more than tanks....look at the death toll....13:1 in favor of Lebanon.....that should be something you should think about...

ignorance and apathy are two different things.

if people really cared about people, they should show it instead of talk about it. Anyone with a $5000 diamond ring who cares about humanity is a ignorant moron. That $5000 would go a very very long way to helping innocent starving children.

Unfortunately, little girls dream of getting a big diamond for their engagement to show their friends how much he cares. Not many little boys and girls, or adults for that matter have dreams and hopes of helping human life around the globe.

We're all caught up in what will sound the best, what kind of weekend we can afford, and the neverending desire to bump uglies.

I know what I am, do you?

-------

If I had the ability and power I would give a 3 month warning and detonate all of Israel. No questions heard. No more war for the Holy land.

Except maybe in radiation suits, but that would make a cool movie.

lol Bruce....

I think many will agree with me, is that people who faced atrocities with such level of brutality as described by Israelis, should be more sensitive to other people’s sufferings. But this has never been the case with the Israelis who committed hideous violations of human rights and international laws in their war aimed at cleansing the Palestinian population and forcing them give up the struggle to liberate the lands Israel occupied long years ago.

This takes me to another important point, the media coverage of the situation in Palestine throughout the long years of occupation.

While the Israeli suffering at the hands of the ***** had always been given great attention from the worldwide media, the Palestinians' suffering, which is far more severe, is usually mentioned in the media reports as normal daily events.

Double standards are applied even in tackling human suffering.

I agree about girls and rings. If I get engaged ever, shes getting an onion ring or one of this 50cent rings from the prize things they have at like all the Zellers entrances. Then we'd really see if it is the though or gift that counts more...

As for blowing up Israel, thats too much. But you do bring up a good point in that religion has caused tons of pointless wars.
Reminds me of little kids bickering about whose dadday can beat up another kids daddy.

religion isn't the cause... it's merely the excuse.

humans are greedy.

I'd get a decent sized ring because I like getting ******** and making the woman i allegedly love smile over helping somebody elses kids have a chance at this thing called life.

the money spent on bling is just one example....

would you be out spending money on clubs and beer if your own children were starving? no.. because you care.... yet a lot of people have no problem spending $100 on booze in one shot.. their only issue with it maybe being that they think they spent too much for one night.
