To many bad drivers on the road....

i was bored and decided to start a thread

Everytime i go on the road, theirs either someone
-not signalling...
-weaving in and out of traffic
-on the left side of the road and doing exactly the speed limit or less, and slowing all the traffic down.
-tailgating

-i think the biggest problem is with people merging into the highway. They go 40 down the on-ramp, and when it comes time to speed up and merge they take their time and i end up having to merge with traffic at like 80 because the car in front of me is still accelerating. I mean if you can't drive on the highway why get on it?... it makes it dangerous for other drivers behind you and thats why accidents happen.

Do you guys see this alot on the road ? whats your opinion on it....

This happens alot, but what can you do. Honk and the occasional hand waving? If you live here you have to put up with it I guess. This is also probably due to some driving schools teaching nothing. I once got cut off by a driving school person WITH INSTRUCTOR.
My 2 cents

Umm... let's see here...

Not signalling is absolutely unforgiveable. Then there's those that don't signal long enough, early enough, or signal too long... ALSO unforgiveable. The sequence is: check, signal, check, move into lane, cancel signal. Simple!

Weaving in and out of traffic. If the moron in the left lane going slower than everyone else doesn't move, then hell yes there's going to be people weaving in and out of traffic to get around him. Otherwise, this is a stupid move.

Left lane bandits... see above. Moral: the left lane is for PASSING ONLY!

Tailgating... see "weaving in and out of traffic". You will get tailgated if you're not passing a car while out there in the passing lanes... 'nuff said.

Merging... definitely! I think everyone has forgotten how to drive! The on-ramp is there to get your car UP TO SPEED!

Other issues:

Driving with lights off! On Saturday during the freezing rain and snow, I drove to Toronto from Stoney Creek. Only 20% of the cars on the road had their lights on. Whatever happened to enforcing the "lights on when your wipers go on" rule? I swear every car should just run with the lights on the instant the ignition is turned over.

Staying in lanes. People don't look far enough down the road these days. I see tonnes of cars drifting from side to side in their lanes... very scary.

Driving in snow! This is the biggie. I swear every person in this province has forgotten that you have to leave more time/space for braking in inclement weather. Also, spinning your tires at full-throttle to get out of being stuck is moronic. Slow acceleration gets you out of a jam much easier. I absolutely refuse to help anyone that's stuck if they sit there and spin their tires.

Squirting your windshield with wiper fluid while going down the highway with heavy traffic. Everyone needs to realize that the washer fluid flies at least one car back when they do this. I don't know how many times I've had this happen.

Idiots who come into faster moving lanes when they're actually not moving faster. Ever had to brake hard because some idiot came into your lane not even doing the speed everyone else in the lane is doing?? What's up with that?

Cars with burnt out bulbs. I can't even count the number of cars that I've seen lately that have only one (or possibly no) taillights working! Take a moment every once in a while and check your bulbs... it's not rocket science!

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Well get this, on 680 this morn, they actually said that Toronto has the lowest roadway deaths in all of north America, and it hasn't been this low since the 50 (when there were like 100 cars in TOronto)

Maybe it's beacuse our roads suck and you're always in rush hour traffic, hard to kill yourself if you can only drive 20 KPH on the highway.

the worst is someone cutting you off and not signalling, you know what if someone cuts me off and signals properly ok fine, i do it too sometimes...maybe cuz i have to get off on a exit or i have to make a turn on a street...whatever...its understandable but ******* SIGNAL!!! u should always signal especiallyyy when cutting someone off...like civicoverdose said when getting on the highway they ar at like 80 when merging and then THEY DONT EVEN SIGNAL...i mean wtf its so easy to get hit from behind like that, use ur heads ppl:fustrated

I would like to comment on numerous bad, dangerous drivers on the streets of the Greater Toronto Area. For one instance during the big weekend storm, a minivan weaves through traffic without signaling north on Kennedy south of the 407 because everyone was doing the speed limit. If I was driving, I would have whipped out my cellular phone and dial to report wreckless driving.

the reckless truck accident?

OMG, the 401 was backed all the way to the 404 from Keele!!!

i think it was two seperate accidents?

driving habits are continously getting more and more dangerous!
thats all i can say, people just have to deal with it, because problems like these cant be helped ( we can start a very long argument/debate on this )

i probably say 70% of highway drivers are irresponsible?

80% of city drivers sux0rz!?

Speaking of bad drivers and unsafe vehicles....I was driving home this evening heading North on Yonge Street to the 407, driving behind a woman whose brake lights were constantly on. I had no idea when she was driving or braking. So I pulled up next to her and rolled down my window to tell her about her problem, she was just facing forward, didn't even look around. That was really frightening, how can you not look to see what is going on around you.

I think she didn't know how to drive and kept 1 foot on the brake the whole time ...some people are like that... maybe wasn't suppose to be driving and so decided not to acknowledge anyone.... I think prison should be involved for people driving when legally they are not suppose to, that might just scare people into behaving...

I can attest to this. This happens every day. Sadly.

However.. I'm sure at one point or another.. we haven't signalled when lane changing.

Most people don't like to abuse their engines. Therefore they don't boot it when merging into traffic... I dunno how to even start a solution to this problem. This is chronic as long as people love their cars.

What's just as bad is those drivers who step on the brake lightly every few seconds for absolutely no reason at all!! I have no idea why people do this (utter stupidity?!), but I've encountered this on enough occassions to say that it happens more often than rarely.

Something else that really bugs me is people who practically run red lights/stop signs (they just slow down) and make a turn onto the street that you're on when you're very near the intersection, only to drive extremely slowly. I find this extremely dangerous and annoying coz I have to stop rather quickly to avoid smacking into their rear-end. (Did that make any sense??)

The stupid things that some people do while driving...

Ha ha ha! That comment made me think of another one: people talking on their cellular phones while trying to drive! That's a BIG no-no as far as I'm concerned... it's too much attention taken away from driving. :working:

(No offense to you AzimuthX.)

Well I think that one of the major problems is that people who drive for a living ie cab drivers, bus drivers cops and truckers are setting a terrible example of how you're supposed to drive. on numerous occasions I've been cut of by a bus or a cop and I'm pretty sure cabbise never signal and truckers they just don't maintain thery're vehicles about a week ago the whole rear axle from a trailer came right of the trcuk and ended up in a school yard talk about dangerous, the driver had no idea that it even happened what a bunch of retards and we are actually paying these people to drive ??? how stupid are we

Merging... definitely! I think everyone has forgotten how to drive! The on-ramp is there to get your car UP TO SPEED!

AMEN Ryan.

WTF is up with the people who like stop on the merging lane so they can fit in?

And signalling? Don't even get me started, is it so hard to move this little lever whenever you wanna change lanes?

I especially hate the people who don't signal on the highway. Like travelling at 100-130kph and changing lanes isn't difficult enough in traffic, people do it without signalling, argh.
