its not as glamorous as it seems. Just because you worked on a few cars doesn't mean this career is for you.

Just cause you wouldn't be pumped about it doesn't mean he isn't. Stop trying to throw doubt into his decisions. He wants to do what he wants to do.

In addition to what Dawson said, I've heard lots of good things about the program @ Durham.

centennial and Mowhawk college both have programs, but ya you will start off at the bottom with all the crap jobs and work your way up and prove yourself, it is also a very labour intensive trade....just something to think about

he's just trying to help him by showing what it is really like out there. A lot of people think it's fun working on cars. Well guess what.. when you have to do rusted brake lines and the lines are tucked away somewhere (i.e. gas tank) and you have to bend them by hand to make them fit while getting a mouth full of rusted crap mixed with brake fluid.. it isn't fun.

But don't get me wrong, it can be a good job once you get good at it and prove yourself to your employer that you can diagnosis well and are not just a replace and install guy.

ppl envision working on brand new porsches and such, they fail to realize the reality of being a mechanic. they think every bolt comes out easy like it does on Spike TV's Powerblock lol
