medical bills for smokers

so one of the big arguments about banning smoking is the medical bills.

what about banning McDonalds and alcohol and a whole bunch of other things that lead to diseases?

the government should sue those companies too, but allow them to legally operate at the same time as well.

We can probably sue every company that provides a product or service that does not extend our length of life.

What about Ford, maybe the government can sue them and the other car companies for selling products which pollute.

are you crazy? if i spoke to george bush on behalf of canada, they might declare war on us because i hurt his feelings..

one thing i've always wanted to do was meet the prime minister, president, or pope, just to call them by their first name.

i don't go for that mr garbage.

i like to punch people in the face who blow smoke in my face.

i quit smoking for 9 months or something and i don't let my friends smoke in my car anymore.. especially the smokers who didn't let people smoke in their own cars.. but i still support the right to smoke in any public establishment provided smoking is legal.

i don't like the current demonize it, ban it, but sell it.

while medical bills of smokers might be higher.. but at least things like CPP are reduced. when people die younger, they drain less from the system.

can anyone verify that the chinese government (among others) encourages people to smoke? "smoking gives you energy"

Bruce,

some interesting IDeas there...

The green party of canada wants to introduce a tax on the waste(pollution) created by companies a tax is better then suing your garenteed to get the cash, that is if the company wants to play within the law...

and I completely agree Alcohol should be regulated. and Fastfood should be banned....

pssh heck no alcohol or fastfood shouldn't be banned, and smoking is fine as long as i don't HAVE to be around it, so like if i go to a bar i'm making a conscious decision to be around smoke... i don't HAVE to go there...

it's all about having a choice, i mean really if enough people didn't want it it would go out of business, if everyone stopped eating mcdonalds they'd fold... but people still want it... so let 'em have it!

i think its retarted how they banned smoking from bars and pool halls these have become anonymous for smoking and drinking and they should open special non smoking establishments for those who are really against smokers

exactly....why does the government think they can tell me what I can and can't do. If I really wanted to, I would do it. I'd make bootleg liquor and start growing may own tobacco.

sorry I just hate authority!

they think they can tell you what you can and can't do for two reasons

1. the majority of people support them
2. you haven't done anything about it

Well thats just it.....they THINK they can.

1. People are followers and I don't concider myself part of the majority
2. As of right now...the government doesn't effect me enough to take action....I still smoke in bars :P

it's not about convincing people about your beliefs.. it's living how you want and crushing anyone who stands in your way of freedom.
