Listen to the commands when you join. (ie: /get "filenamehere.mp3"
In all honestly - I recommend torrents.
Download : uTorrent (www.utorrent.com)
Search Engine : www.mininova.org
And that should simply most of your problems.
Otherwise, download LimeWire Pro (www.filemirrors.com)
Other sites only have LimeWire, to get pro, go to that site listed above ^

you start with /server irc.blah.net, then /join #blahchannel
and over there you can look at the bots adv stuff and they will tell you what trigger they use to download.
some uses CTTP, and some uses MSG.
easiest way would be search on one of those irc search sites and click on the packet number thing "#1" ****.avi, click on that #1 and it will connect you directly to that channel. once you are in go to command line, right click and select paste, and hit enter.
