Arrow -> MUST READ THIS! Dangerous Prank!

A message from the OPP: Be careful when you gas up...

Please read the following:

My name is Captain Abraham Sands of the Ontario Provincial Police Department. I have been asked by local authorities to write this email in order to get the word out to car drivers of a very dangerous prank that is occurring in numerous cities.

Some person or persons have been affixing hypodermic needles to the underside of gas pump handles. These needles appear to be infected with HIV positive blood. In the Simcoe area alone there have been 17 cases of people being stuck by these needles over the past five months.

We have verified reports of at least 12 others in various provinces around the country. It is believed that these may be copycat incidents due to someone reading about the crimes or seeing them reported on the television. At this point no one has been arrested and catching the perpetrator(s) has become our top priority.

Shockingly, of the 17 people who where stuck, eight have tested HIV positive and because of the nature of the disease, the others could test positive in a couple years. Evidently the consumers go to fill their car with gas, and when picking up the pump handle get stuck with the infected needle.

IT IS IMPERATIVE TO CAREFULLY CHECK THE HANDLE of the gas pump each time you use one. LOOK AT EVERY SURFACE YOUR HAND MAY TOUCH, INCLUDING UNDER THE HANDLE.

If you do find a needle affixed to one, immediately contact your local police department so they can collect the evidence.

PLEASE HELP US BY MAINTAINING A VIGILANCE AND BY EMAILING THIS MESSAGE TO ANYONE YOU KNOW WHO DRIVES.

If I see some crackhead, SOB, MF putting one of those F*cking needles on the nozzle, no dout I will run them over, and then as a bonus, after hitting the crap out of them with my CLUB, I would tie their F*cking legs to my rear bumper and drive to NEVADA.

I usually fill up on two gas stations, and it is very unlikely to find a needle due to the high volume costumers. However, in a more rural area, you should be careful.

Hello people, this is just another version of these things call URBAN LEGENDS...this is another version of the needle infected with HIV that gets stuck in you when you go to a movie theater and sit down, or the scenario when someone at a club sticks one of these in you and has the message attatched "I will see you soon.."

As a safety precaution, I will take out my cell phone out of my pocket and throw it onto the seats.

you do know that cell phones don't have enough power to create a spark which is required to ignite gasoline....

the actual reason of the fires that were claimed to be started by "cell phones" actually happened because people got the pump going then went back into the car where their clothes caused a static build up that set off a spark at the pump when they tocuhed it (cars are not grounded to the earth... pumps are) the result was the fires....

anyways I would recommend not re entering your car after you start pumping ... but the cell phone stuff is pure crap...

I saw something about that on one of those American new shows (ie. 20/20, Dateline, etc.) as well. It was about the danger of static sparks caused by people getting back into their car while the gas was pumping. I have never seen anyone get back in their car while pumping gas, I guess its an American thing.

yes since the canadian pumps (the self serve ones) do not have a locking devise on the handle so that it can be locked in the ON position. American pumps are the same as the full service ones here (so that te attendant doesn't have to stand there and fill your car they can do other stuff) and have the locking devise...

There are a few pumps that are locking around here, but regardless I would never use it anyways. I learned the hard way once when the pump didn't shut off right away once full and spilled some gas on the car. Regardless, I wouldn't get back into my car while pumping gas, I guess its a lazy American thing.

I know someone already posted a link to another web site saying that it's pure bull, but here's another one too:

http://www.snopes.com/horrors/mayhem/gaspump.htm

But just because it never happened doesn't mean that it can't.
