If you post something personal online on a public site then you're inviting being made fun of. Nothing says "I'm looking for attention" than seeking advice (read: validation) for a personal question where you already know what you're going to do anyways. I also think that the majority of responses were commenting on the fact that moving so quickly and drastically was a bad idea. Only a few commented on the girl. Yeah we all made assumptions about her, but everyone does that every day...

At the end of the day, he asked for attention, and he got it.
