Cluster: Take out the RAM and run the computer. If there are no crashes you can then narrow it down to one of two things: 1) RAM Problem 2) RAM and Video Card conflict (not very likely).

Then you do the following reasearch: 1) What speed type size (ie. DDR, SDRAM, 128 megs, 133 MHZ, etc..) is the new ram? 2) What speed type size is the old ram?

You should NEVER mix ram speeds and types. So don't put one stick of SDRAM and one stick of DDR. AND never put one stick of 100 MHZ ram and one stick of 133 MHZ ram. Your Motherboard is usually meant to only handle one certain type of ram, make sure you have that kind. And lastly, computers usually run much better if you have the ram evenly divided - ie. If you've got 96 Megs of RAM, the best situation would be to have 3 sticks of 32 Megs each. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say, it might be a bit confusing..

If it is the Video Card. Then it is more than likely that it is having an issue with something else on the same port, do a search for anything running the same memory address or IRQ etc and disable it temporarily to see if it helps. Then relocate one of the two devices. Otherwise, it could be your old drivers interfering with the new drivers which happens often. The best solution for the second case would be a good old fashioned reformatting.

If you knew all of the above, sorry. I'm not trying to insult your computer intelligence or anything like that, I just thought I throw out a couple of ideas. Best of luck fixing it, and ICQ me if you need any other help.

That's probably your problem right there..

Integrated Video card + Aftermarket Video card = Not good.

Did you fully disable your Integrated Video card or just delete it in the hardware profile manager?

If you haven't fully disabled your integrated Video card, then you are basically running two video cards at the same time which is a major no no.. Let me know what you have done and I'll post some potential solutions.

You might have to disable the built-in videocard from the BIOS. Press the DEL key when your system is summing the RAM count at startup.

Check the devices menu in your CMOS settings, and try disabling the video feature.

Check if there are any conflicting IRQ's with your videocard. Force IRQ if neccessary, or try an updated driver.

Damn I hate computers!

Cluster, what vid card did you get? ATI Radeon 64Mb 7000 AGP?? Actually if you have any ATI vid card go to www.rage3d.com. They have better drivers than ATI and software hacks to over clock it also. I used their drivers and it's working much better than ATI's.

This is what I found in the instruction manual for your MB (hopefully it's the same one you have). Hope this helps.

PCI / Plug and Play Setup Page
This page sets some of the parameters for devices installed on the PCI bus and devices that use the system plug and play capability.

Plug and Play Aware O/S: Enable this item if you are using an O/S that supports Plug and Play such as Windows 95 or 98.

Primary Graphics Adapter: This item indicates if the primary graphics adapter uses the PCI or the AGP bus. The default PCI setting still lets the onboard display work and allows the use of a second display card installed in a PCI slot.

Assign IRQ for VGA: If this item is enabled, an IRQ will be assigned to the PCI VGA graphics system. You set this value to No to free up an IRQ.
