Need some major computer help here!

Man my desktop is sooo freakin messed up and I cant figure out whats wrong with it. First of all it keeps freezing on me, like even with no load on it, I can just be surfin the net and bam it freezes. Then when I try to reboot it, the monitor sometimes doesnt want to turn on, It ran fine for like 6 months, but for about a month its been strange. What should I do? Format it? maybe drivers or something are messed? Could it be anything hardware related?

This is my setup:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
Asus A7N8X Deluxe mobo
512mb DDR 333 RAM
ATI AIW 8500DV Video Card
Everything else is onboard.

Im thinking it could be a driver/hardware issue. Check your video card, that seems very fishy!!

Your motherboard is a very good board and is very stable. I have the same one. From a hardware perspective, everything seems ok, all good parts. (Assuming ram is of the same brand if running in dual channel mode, different brands could cause problems)

I would probably suggest a format if you havent done so in awhile. Always good to format every once in awhile. Start all fresh and clean.

Run an external bootable OS.

Knoppix comes to mind...

Does it still freeze?

What power conditioning if any are you using?

Power Supply?

OK, since last night, AVG ran and detected nothing, so that should rule that out. My power supply is the one that came with my Antec Lanboy Case. Another thing to note is that it only started freezing after I was running FF11 for awhile (2 weeks), now my video card wasn't officially supported (minimum ati 9000), but when I installed the newest drivers the game ran fine for that period of time when it just started locking up. I'm going to revert back to the original drivers and see what happens.

350Watt(SLK350 Blue)
Smart Power
ATX 12V for AMD™ & Intel® systems
Here's the specs for it:

Whats a power conditioner?

For the person who asked, when it freezes the whole screen freezes the last image it was on, nothing responds.

Right so im gonna mess around with some drivers and such.

drivers...

i'd say completely remove yer vid card, go back to generic and re-install it

check rage3d for issues with yer card too..they always proven to be good for that and "unofficial" fixes..

well if it aint much trouble
format,

it would make your comp perform bit better, but of course once you have it for a while it slows down again, remeber to check disk, and defrag
