My credit card # was stolen and used for about $200 worth of purchases. I had to call my bank , let them investigate for like a month and then fax stuff back and forth and crap and get a new credit card # then transfer all my bills and payments to the new card. Sucha hassle cuz of some jerk.

thats so dumb...

majority of gas station owners don't even work at the station, rather its the employee that is stealing or copying cards. How is punishing the owner going to stop the crook employee who will just get a job at another place.

simple it puts a bit of responsibility on the owners. if banks started doing this I think every gas station owner would be much more thorough on checking out their employees and making sure they don't taper with equipment. all it would take is a once a day random stop into their stations to have a look behind the counter. just to make sure.

That is the way it's suppose to work, they are not allowed to give out any info on where it happened.

yeah...its not like its your money, time, stress, inconvenience or anything.

the bank should be an ACTIVE participant in shutting down that operation.

what would you do if your money was stolen?

you have such laidback attitude about this. would you take it on the chin and keep smiling? maybe give the criminals access to your other cards too? the keys to your home?

First of all, you seem to have an answer for everything, second, you have no idea what is going on behind the scenes at the bank and what actions are taking place and that they are already have things in place to take care of these situations.

let me guess....you work at "the" bank?

what things do they have in place? is it along the lines of "filing a suspicious occurence report" that gets filed away or sits on a desk for 3 years?

regardless, whenever the cops bust a big fraud operation, its usually in the news...can't say i read about those too often.
